Social Media Manager                

Location - London, Holborn

Contract - Full Time Fixed Term 4 Months.

Salary –  £38,000 (Including London Allowance)

The Role:

We're looking for an experienced Social Media Manager for a four-month period, to oversee output on our channels and develop a forward-thinking social media strategy for the organisation.

You'll be leading social media communications on a day-to-day basis, raising awareness of the issues relating to vulnerable children, young people and their families in the UK, and driving up support for our work. This will include supporting the Social Media Officer, signing off on copy and acting as a champion of best practice - you'll ensure we create engaging, shareable content that results in increase in reach, engagement and income

A key part of the role is also taking the longer-term view to lead on a robust and evidence-led strategy for our social media channels. You'll draw work closely with the Digital Content Manager to advise on the best approach, drawing on your previous experience to help us maximise our impact and ensure more children have a safe and happy childhood.

How you will make a difference:

  1. Create, develop and implement a forward-thinking social media strategy across all our channels, focused on driving up support, influence and engagement. Ensure that all Action for Children profiles and content best reflect the needs of our audiences and help meet the aims of the organisation.
  2. Work closely with the Digital Content Manager to ensure that the social media strategy feeds into the charity's wider cross-departmental content strategy. Use an evidence-based approach to advise on best practice, development of audience-specific content and innovative and innovative ways of working
  3. Manage the workload of the Social Media Officer and provide day-to-day support, ensuring the social media team is supported to deliver against organisational objectives.  
  4. - Work with other teams to develop integrated campaigns with clear aims, good user journeys and KPIs. Continually improve and develop the social media channels by applying learnings from analysis and findings, identify new ways to reach target audiences and increase engagement.

  6. Set KPIs for social media, measuring the success of channels by setting up and implementing appropriate tracking on posts and campaigns, monitoring and reporting back on activity progress. Prepare reports to feed into departmental and organisational reporting and analysis. Share learnings and insights with wider digital engagement team
  7. Provide occasional out of office community management support when needed, answering queries and engaging with supporters online in a timely manner, as well as flagging trends and reputational issues

The person:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience managing a social media account in a busy environment, ideally for the charity sector.
  • Experience of writing a successful social media strategy that reflects the needs and audience of an organization.
  • Excellent setting KPIs and reporting on results.
  • Storytelling, engaging social content (written and visual) and campaign planning 
  • Developing a social media strategy with demonstrable results
  • Available to start immediately.
