Job Description

Action for Refugees in Lewisham is a highly effective grassroots organisation that is passionate about relieving the poverty and isolation of refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants in Lewisham and the surrounding boroughs while improving their educational outcomes.  Our vision is to contribute to building a more equal, inclusive and fair society, creating capacities among refugees and asylum seekers.

The Rainbow Club Saturday School, AFRIL’s flagship service, aims to improve the educational achievement and social wellbeing of refugee and asylum seeker children aged 4-11.  It is AFRIL's largest project and is a vital support for a large number of families from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds.

The award winning project is now looking for a passionate and committed Education Co-ordinator to manage the school and organisation through it’s next exciting stage of development.

In this role you will:

  • Facilitate all aspects of the school on a Saturday ensuring the smooth running of the service.
  • Manage teaching staff and volunteers to ensure a high quality of education for our students.
  • Build partnerships with other local and city wide organisations to enhance the opportunities of the families we work with.
  • Effectively monitor and evaluate the work of the school collecting a wide range of data to show the impact of the service.
  • Devise and implement a dynamic resource and funding strategy in collaboration with the General Manager to ensure the long term sustainability of the school and the organisation.
  • Work with other members of AFRIL's senior leadership to develop and deliver on the strategic direction of the organisation.

Please see the attached Job Description and Personal Specification for main tasks and experience required.

To apply, please submit your CV and cover letter through Charity Job by 5pm on Tuesday 11th June 2019. Interviews are likely to take place in early July.
