Job Description

The key purpose of this role is to develop a diverse range of fundraising activities to support AEA's fundrasing strategy and income generation. You will need to have experience of recruting and working with volunteers and a stong track record of successful fundraising, particulalryl within trusts and foundations.

We need someone who is comfortable with change, and who can help us take good work and turn it into excellent work.

Intially this post is a 1 year Contract.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Fundraising and Supporter Management
  1. Trusts and Foundations
  • Work with the Fundraising and Communications Director to achieve agreed trusts fundraising income targets for both restricted and unrestricted funds
  • Manage and enhance relationships with an existing portfolio of warm trust funders
  • Proactively identify, research and prioritise new trusts that are strong funding prospects
  • Prepare and submit high quality funding proposals and budgets in accordance with timetables and application criteria
  • Work with the Fundraising and Communications Director to prepare grant monitoring reports for all trust and foundation supporters
  1. Community
  • Work with the Fundraising and Communications Director to plan, implement and manage a series of new fundraising activities, events and collections
  • Promote fundraising volunteer opportunities and support the recruitment of fundraising volunteers
  • Develop and nurture relationships with community fundraisers, providing support and motivation to help ensure their fundraising is successful
  • Work with our Fundraising and Communications Director and Fundraising and Communications Assistant to promote fundraising activities and events
  • Ensure all fundraisers are thanked quickly and appropriately
  • Manage the purchase and allocation of places in sponsored events
  • Manage, promote and administer external fundraising tools and partners such as Justgiving
  1. Individual Giving
  • Support the Fundraising and Communications Director to develop and implement a supporter journey and donor cultivation plan
  • Process all offline cash and cheque donations
  • Ensure all donors are thanked quickly and appropriately
  • Send out gift aid declaration forms and process gift aid claims
  • Promote one-off appeals, regular giving, in memoriam giving, tribute fundraising and legacy giving
  • Undertake prospect research to develop a portfolio of major donor prospects
  • Develop stewardship plans for high value to maximise income
  1. Corporate Fundraising
  • Work with the Fundraising and Communications Director to plan, implement and manage a series of new fundraising activities and challenge events
  • Promote employee fundraising opportunities
  • Develop and nurture relationships with corporates, providing support and motivation to help ensure their fundraising is successful
  • Work with our Fundraising and Communications Director and Fundraising and Communications Assistant to promote fundraising activities and events
  • Manage the purchase and allocation of places in sponsored events
  1. Financial Responsibility
  • To work closely with the Finance team to develop budgets and regular reforecasts to update on income and expenditure projections
  1. Additional Duties
  • Research new trends and opportunities in fundraising and partnership generation and develop these external networks to benefit AEA
  • Work closely with the Programmes team and Policy team to identify funding gaps and opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with Fundraising, Programmes and Policy colleagues to ensure a consistent, organisation-wide fundraising approach
  • To act as a member of the AEA team and carry out any reasonable duties as requested

Person Specification

Criteria

Essential

A strong track record of successful fundraising, particularly within trusts and foundations (minimum 3 years’ experience).
Demonstrable experience of a broad range of fundraising techniques.

Experience of recruiting and working with volunteers successfully and appropriately within a fundraising environment.

Demonstrable knowledge of the key elements of fundraising including CRM, sponsorship, employee fundraising, gifts in kind and restricted funding.

Thorough knowledge of charity law and fundraising practice, including tax effective giving and GDPR
 

Desirable

Experience of working with Board /Trustees Directors.

Experience of managing and developing community fundraising activities, including sponsored events.

Experience of building relationships with individual donors including prospecting, cultivation and stewardship.

Experience of managing ethical fundraising issues.

Education:

Educated to degree level or equivalent, to have equivalent experience.

Member of the Institute of Fundraising.

Thorough knowledge of MS office

Excellent levels of literacy and numeracy

A working knowledge of CRM fundraising databases

Flexibility and willingness to travel in the UK and to work some unsocial hours

An ability to demonstrate a positive attitude to older people and a demonstrable interest in challenging elder abuse, coupled with an ability to deal appropriately with sensitive issues
