Job description

Adfam is the national charity working to improve the lives of the many thousands of families affected by the drug and alcohol use of others, giving them a voice. We work with family members and carers, support frontline staff and volunteers and influence decision-makers to stop these happening. Family members are at the heart of all our work and inform everything we do.

Consequently, our activities are built around supporting both those people affected by a loved one’s substance misuse and the workers who support them, offering training to build skills, developing best practice guidance and advocating on behalf of families by undertaking research which can be used to influence policy at a local and national level.

We are seeking to recruit a skilled, enthusiastic and energetic Kinship Care Support and Development Co-ordinator to deliver our Children in Need project in Peterborough. The successful applicant will have experience in working with children and families, and will build on this already successful project to provide activities and support to children in kinship care and their families.

Most of the group activities for children take place at weekends and during school holidays. The post holder will also be responsible for organising and chairing our eastern region forum, held on a quarterly basis in Cambridge. The forum brings together practitioners working with families affected by substance use and related issues to share good practice and amplify the voice of families in the region.

This is a great opportunity of working with a highly regarded charity in addressing and meeting the key needs of kin carers and children affected by substance misuse.

If you are ambitious about addressing a range of individual and family needs, apply today!

The post is home based but requires local travel visit families at home, and to Adfam’s office in London for team meetings. Use of a car is essential.

  • This post is subject to appropriate security and DBS checks
  • 6.5% contributory pension scheme
  • Contract: 1 year with possible extension dependant on securing funding
  • Interviews will be held in Peterborough on Thursday 24th October

Adfam actively welcomes applications from all sections of society.
