Adfam is looking to recruit a self-employed counsellor/psychotherapist on a sessional basis to provide counselling sessions within our remote support service, [email protected] Based at home or in your own counselling premises, you will work therapeutically with adult family and friends affected by someone else’s substance use. Sessions will take place remotely via Zoom or on the phone, depending on client preference.
Whilst substance use is a feature of all referrals, presenting issues are varied and may include relationship difficulties, bereavement, boundaries, self-care and coping, to name just a few. We work primarily to a 6-session model and clients self-refer online and are assessed by the Adfam team to ensure suitability for counselling and for a remote service.
You would need to be able to offer a minimum of 10 counselling hours per week for a minimum of 6 months, with ideally some evening and/or weekend availability.
We are looking for counsellors/therapists with the following credentials and arrangements in place:
- A recognised counselling or psychotherapy qualification
- Accreditation with a recognised body (e.g. BACP, UKCP)
- Set up in private practice with your own clinical supervisory arrangements and able to invoice Adfam for work delivered
- A private counselling space, suitable for remote work, with reliable internet and phone connection, your own secure technology and GDPR compliant data storage arrangements
- Appropriate professional insurance and registrations
In addition, you will be a highly professional practitioner, comfortable with independent remote work and willing to work to the highest professional ethical and legal standards.
To support our own clinical governance and quality assurance, Adfam will provide regular case management supervision which will require some client discussion. Safeguarding and risk concerns will require reporting in to the Adfam team. We also provide the opportunity to participate in training and meetings with other remote sessional workers and the wider Adfam team. We are a small, friendly team, now based entirely remotely from our homes around the UK. Whilst we expect our team to work responsibly on an independent basis, we provide a supportive structure and regular opportunities for collegial connection and learning.
We are currently able to offer £25/hour. We may be able to increase this in future depending on future funding.
