About the Role

1 in 10 children in the UK have serious emotional and behavioural difficulties, which place them at further risk of negative outcomes later in life. Chance UK’s mission is to help support them to reduce these difficulties, find and acknowledge their strengths and talents, and to help them flourish. We do this via a structured 1:1 weekly mentoring programme, which matches them with specialist youth workers to mentor them for up to a year, alongside a range of support for their parent/carers.

Our approach is different from other services – we are there with the child and the family to understand what’s important to them, what they need, and give them the support, space and time to ensure the whole family is stronger. Chance UK’s Parent Programme Managers play a vital role in engaging parents in the mentoring support their children are receiving in order to get the best outcomes and lasting long-term positive change for the children.

Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia; a progressive and complex condition that can be devastating for the whole family. One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide free, expert advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one. Every day, Admiral Nurses help families up and down the country to have the best life possible for as long as possible.

Purpose of the job/About the role

Research is a key element in Dementia UK’s strategic aims and runs throughout all our approaches to supporting people with dementia and their families. Our research is focused on care not cure, helping to improve lives and support our Admiral Nurses.

As part of the Research and Publications Team, we are currently seeking a Research Team Administrator to support in the delivery of the Dementia UK Research Strategy.

The team administrator will play a crucial role in providing administrative support to the Research and Publications (R&P) team, aiding in their operational efficiency, research, and development activities. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the research and publications databases, as well as updating and managing the R&P webpages. Furthermore, you will be responsible for managing the team inbox, handling inquiries, and assisting in the management of the team budget. Additionally, you will provide support to team members with their travel arrangements and serve as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders as needed.

The ideal candidate will have previously worked in an administrative role with experience of preparing and drafting meeting papers, taking minutes, and coordinating meetings. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is essential, along with a track record of arranging meetings, teleconferences, and events. With excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills you will be confident communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders as well as meeting deadlines and managing workloads through effective prioritising, time-management, and organisational skills.

About the role

Crisis is opening a new location right in the heart of Walthamstow. This is an opportunity to be part of opening and establishing a brand-new shop in one of London’s most vibrant communities. You will make a difference and deliver positive social impact in the local community while also raising money to fund Crisis’ work ending homelessness. 

As a Shop Supervisor, you will support the Shop Manager and Assistant Shop Manager to deliver an outstanding customer experience. You will play a key role in delivering customer service and supporting volunteers, as well maintaining the look and feel of the shop and processing stock. You will work towards ambitious sales and training targets, maximising the impact on our mission to end homelessness.

This is a unique retail opportunity where you will also be involved in delivering on the job training for Crisis members, supporting them to gain the skills and confidence needed in the workplace. You will work collaboratively with your team and will have opportunities to build your own skills and career progression through training and development.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced operations manager to join our team. We are looking for someone who will help strengthen the foundations of our organisation, as well as help us expand our growing network of partner organisations across the UK. 

As a small charity, the role will require balancing practical tasks with strategic planning and management. Building on what has already been done, you will work directly with the CEO to help build the operational structure of Big Green Heart, and support its day-to-day operations. 

You will also facilitate the national deployment of Big Green Heart workshops across the UK, and will work with the CEO and trustees to implement the strategy needed to upscale the work of Big Green Heart. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• You will develop and implement operational policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.

• You will monitor and evaluate the operational performance of the organisation, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

• You will manage the operational activity of our Big Green Heart experience days, supporting the CEO in the delivery of them. 

• You will work closely with our partner organisations who are using the Big Green Heart model, ensuring that the high standards and values of our teaching are maintained.

• You will also work with the Big Green Heart team to onboard new partner organisations. You will work with them to understand their needs and secure buy-in. 

• You will collaborate with the trustees, who also contribute to tasks linked with Big Green Heart's development. 

• You will manage the budgeting and financial planning processes, working closely with the Treasurer.

• You will be trained as a Big Green Heart facilitator with an expectation that you may be needed to facilitate a workshop during your time at the organisation.

• You will participate in professional and networking events related to Big Green Heart’s field of intervention.

• You will support staff members, trustees and volunteers, providing guidance and training in the operations of the charity as needed.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS

• At least two years experience in operations management, preferably within the charity sector. 

• A self motivated individual, capable of independent working.

• Ability to translate vision into a working practice. 

• Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Familiarity with budgeting and financial management processes.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

These are newly created administrative roles to increase capacity in Londonwide LMCs, the membership organisation representing approximately 7,000 NHS General Practitioners in nearly 1,200 practice teams in London, providing pan-London leadership and shared committee services for its members. The organisation has an important role to Value, Care for and Protect general practice.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Primary Care team which supports committee effectiveness and ensures representation within Local Medical Committees within London. The post holder will report to the Director of Primary Care, working across local committees within the Primary Care team.

The focus of this role is to provide administrative support to Local Medical Committees, enabling the smooth running of Committee meetings. It would be helpful if candidates have a contextual understanding of the health environment or other public sector environments that we work in, along with excellent administration and note-taking skills. About this role

This role is an opportunity to participate in the global movement to protect the natural world; meeting and supporting incredible communities and organisations driving change to secure a sustainable future. You will be supporting our partners and carrying out grant administration in the Amphibian and Congo Basin Programmes, for which proficiency in both French and English is essential.

The role will be a fundamental part of Synchronicity Earth’s Programmes team (currently a team of seven people), working to help develop and grow the support we provide to our partners (grantees) across our programmes. Please note that first-stage interviews for this role will be conducted in both French and English.

Specific responsibilities will include the following:

• Manage some grantee partner relationships, including building trust and openness, identifying capacity needs, administrating grants, monitoring progress and fulfilling reporting requirements.
• Provide administrative support across the Programmes Team with grant management e.g. preparing of grant paperwork, reviewing partner reports and checklists (proposals), monitoring pipelines.
• Undertake research in focal areas for the Programmes Team, such as identifying intervention points and opportunities to make a difference in conservation.
• Contribute to communication products, including donor reports and applications, to support Synchronicity Earth’s fundraising and philanthropic goals.
• Produce and contribute to board papers and discussions.
• Update and undertake due diligence.
• Manage and maintain partner database, including data entry, preparing reports and basic analysis.
• Contribute to the development of Synchronicity Earth’s processes and systems around partner management and due diligence.

Synchronicity Earth is a UK-based, global environmental charity which funds work that aims to make our planet a better place to live for all its inhabitants.

We are a medium-sized charity which supports partners working to protect less well-known species and ecosystems around the world that receive less attention but face the greatest threats. We do this through our Conservation Programmes, which identify, fund, and support organisations with a focus on: Amphibians, Asian Species, Congo Basin, Biocultural Diversity, Freshwater, and Ocean. We also support work across two other areas: the More than Carbon initiative, a portfolio of climate and biodiversity projects targeted at corporate donors; and the Synchronicity Portfolio, which aims to foster systemic change to promote a greater focus on biodiversity conservation within different sectors. Our partners are mostly organisations embedded within their local communities, and we often support work which also considers social impacts such as women’s health and empowerment, engagement with Indigenous Peoples and local communities, and sustainable livelihoods (e.g., small-scale fisheries) in addition to wildlife conservation.

Skills and experience required

Essential

• Proficient written and spoken English equivalent to C1 or C2 level.
• Proficient written and spoken French equivalent to C1 or C2 level.
• Bachelor’s degree or three or more years’ work experience in a relevant area. This could be lived experience, volunteering, or work experience related to sectors such as biodiversity conservation, social justice, environmental protection, community organizing, or engagement with political and social movements.
• Demonstrable interest in ecology, endangered species and biodiversity conservation, social justice, or community organising.
• Proven ability to produce high-quality written materials.
• Computer literacy.

Desirable

• Experience in Africa (especially lived experience in West or Central Africa).
• Some understanding of community- and rights-based approaches.

Reporting, location, and work hours

This position is a permanent full-time position that is based in the Synchronicity Earth offices in Central London, with the option for hybrid office/home working if the successful applicant wishes with 2 days a week in the office (laptop would be provided for home working). The successful candidate must be already eligible to work in the UK.

Annual leave

25 days per year for a full-time position (in addition to public holidays), adjusted for part-time. We also run an employer-supported volunteering programme, where employees may take additional time-off (2 days per annum) to volunteer for community organisations and other charities (in accordance with our policy).

Review process: The application process will have three stages. The Huntington's Disease Association is a UK registered charity that supports people affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales. We provide information, advice and support to families, friends, and healthcare professionals.

We are looking for an experienced Volunteer Manager to support and inspire those who volunteer for the charity. You will lead them in line with the vision, mission and values of the charity and work to fulfil the goals of our strategic plan. You will strengthen our current volunteering strands with effective governance and great communication and will develop new volunteering opportunities within the charity.

You will manage our volunteer-led Branches and Support groups who offer peer support, fundraising opportunities and activities locally. You will also manage HD Voice, our panel of volunteers, who contribute to the internal development of the charity and ensure that the voice of the Huntington’s community is at the heart of research into the condition.

You will co-ordinate all aspects of the volunteer journey from recruitment, selection, induction, training and ongoing support and develop effective policies, procedures and guidance for volunteers as well as developing an effective monitoring and evaluation process.

We are looking for someone with strong volunteer management skills who has experience of training volunteers and of writing policies, procedures and guidance in line with data protection guidance. Also someone with great communication and relationship management skills who has experience of managing volunteers at all stages of their volunteer journey.   

There will be regular evening and weekend work as many of our volunteers work themselves so need the support out of office hours. There will be a need for travel across England and Wales.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

Strategy, vision and impact [25%]

• Be at the forefront of leading Resurgo’s ‘big picture’ vision of a transformed society, empowering churches to transform young lives
• Build and implement a strategy for developing relationships with local referral agencies to ensure effective recruitment of young people onto the Spear programme
• Oversee the reporting of the Centre outcomes and ensure the Spear Programme is delivered in line with agreed targets

Leadership, line management and training [25%]

• Lead your team with confidence; spurring them on in Resurgo’s mission; invest in a team culture of excellence, belonging and fun
• Manage and develop the Lead Coach and Graduate Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development. This includes weekly 1:1s, performance reviews and regular feedback
• Equip your team to drive change through a data informed approach, and keep them accountable to agreed targets for the Spear Programme

Relationship management [20%]

• Manage great relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, donors, and your Board of Trustees
• Embed into your local church; working closely with your Spear Trustees and congregation, and actively participating in their mission and events
• Partner with the Spear Trustees and assist in implementing their funding strategy by helping to build corporate and donor relationships. For example, by hosting prospective donors in the Training Room

Delivery of the Spear Programme [20%]

• Support group and 1-1 coaching with numerous 16-24-year-olds: equipping them with practical work-ready skills and resilient mindsets
• Provide guidance to the Lead Coach in the training room when dealing with behavioural and safeguarding situations and upskill coaches with consistent coaching feedback
• Use a coaching approach to engage young people in challenging conversations that will enable them to take responsibility and over significant barriers to employment

Operations [10%]

• Liaise with relevant staff regarding site operations and work to resolve any issues as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies

About the role

The London Library is looking for an Acquisitions and Discovery Assistant to assist in the acquisition and management of Library E-resources and print resources.

The role includes supporting the successful acquisition and seamless delivery of electronic resources to library users, utilising and maintaining relevant library systems and records; assisting purchasing decisions and supporting licensing, ordering and payment processes; verifying access, liaising with suppliers & Library IT, and ensuring correct metadata is presented to users; plus monitoring resource use and collecting data for the evaluation of subscriptions. There is the opportunity to support membership and services, including giving tours to prospective members.

In addition to assisting with the administration of E-books, the role requires processes associated with the management of the print journal collection, including serials and donated materials, such as checking in new issues and ensuring publications are shelved correctly, applying stamps, recording invoices, recording changes in publishers' information and preparing completed volumes of serial parts for binding and checking. 

There is potential to grow and develop the role, which will join our busy Acquisitions and Discovery team and assisting with administrative tasks associated with cataloguing along with supporting the Library’s internal Digitisation processes as required.

Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to get on with a wide variety of people, even under pressure, you will have proven experience of working in a Library environment and of basic clerical/administrative routines.
