Job Title:    Service Manager – Minerva Services                                                                                                           

Salary:    £34,000 - £38,000 per annum (this salary is dependent on experience)

Working Hours:    35 hours per week, Permanent 

Work Location:    Based at Advance’s Oxford office, with travel around the Thames Valley region 

The successful candidate will have a full UK driving license and the ability to secure a vehicle for use (with mileage to be compensated)

What we do:

Advance is a well-respected, award-winning and innovative women-only organisation, established in 1998, providing emotional and practical support to women experiencing domestic abuse and supporting women with short-term sentences to reduce offending.  Through the Minerva service, our goal is to divert women from the Criminal Justice System at the earliest opportunity and prevent families breaking down as a result.

The project:

In June 2021 we expanded our service beyond our London footprint to Bedfordshire, Essex, Hampshire, Hertfordshire and Kent, along with Thames Valley, providing one-to-one advocacy and specialist work including workshops and group activities delivered by Advance in partnership with voluntary organisations.

What you will bring:

As an experienced manager with a proven track record of leadership in providing services to women in the criminal justice system or similar, the post holder will lead and manage the Minerva service across Thames Valley, working collaboratively with fellow Advance managers, external agencies and key subcontracted partners across the South and /or East of England and London to provide a consistent and holistic service. This role requires the effective management of front-line keyworkers who will be delivering a 1:1 advocacy service, as well as a Women’s Interventions programme, through women’s centres and hubs, that fulfils the needs of the women accessing the service. 

In short you will:

•    Recruit, train and develop a team of competent and highly skilled keyworkers, driving a high performance, quality service culture across a geographically dispersed team.

•    Provide high quality, trauma-informed supervision for staff in your team. 

•    Work collaboratively with fellow Service Managers across the South and/or East of England to ensure that the work supporting women in the criminal justice system (and DVA where appropriate) is a coherent and well organised service. 

•    Build networks and pathways, in order to provide institutional advocacy to criminal justice services, ensuring women’s voices in this process are heard and listened to.
