Job description

Health Information Officer

Salary: £24,000-£26,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits

Full time – 37.5 hours a week

London N1

Closing date: 25th October 2021

First Interviews: w/c 1st November 2021

An exciting opportunity for a Health Information Officer has arisen at World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF).

WCRF is the UK’s leading cancer prevention charity. We champion the latest and most authoritative scientific research from around the world on cancer prevention and survival through diet, weight and physical activity. Every day in the UK around 1,100 people will hear the words, ‘you have cancer’. Over 400 of these people could have avoided this diagnosis, that’s 147,000 people every year. At WCRF we are passionate about reducing this number. To do so, we want more people to access our information to empower them to make informed lifestyle choices to reduce their cancer risk.

We are seeking a Health Information Officer who will carry out a range of activities; including translating often complex scientific information into clear and simple messages and creating and updating health information content and resources, including recipes, for print and online. The role also delivers and helps develop nutrition and health information resources for families and children and works closely with the Communication and Engagement department to implement and promote a range of materials, resources and programmes to increase our reach.

The successful candidate will have a degree in nutrition (ideally with either ANutr or RNutr status) and experience of working in a health information and publications role and developing and writing health information materials for a range of audiences, in particular, the general public. Experience of child nutrition, including writing content and being involved in healthy eating programmes would be an advantage.

Proven experience of copywriting, editing and proofreading and of writing for online channels is essential, as is meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills, including the ability to work in a busy team and the ability to manage priorities and plan time effectively.

Application Details:

If you are interested in this role and feel you possess the necessary requirements, please submit a current CV and covering letter (maximum 2 pages) by the closing date. You must have current right to work in the UK.

Please note: Your cover letter should highlight how your skills and experience will benefit WCRF and equip you for the role.

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are only able to provide feedback to shortlisted candidates. If you do not hear from us within 14 days of the closing date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.
