nia has been delivering services to women, girls and children who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence and abuse, including prostitution, since 1975. The organisation has three main aims: to provide services for women, girls and children who have experienced men’s violence; contributing to ending male violence against women and girls, and to inform and influence policy and public awareness.

About the post
The Emma Project, Daria House and Jan’s Place are specialist services providing refuge and support services to women who have been subjected to domestic and/or sexual violence and abuse, including women who have been sexually exploited, including through prostitution and who also use substances problematically.
You will work closely alongside the refuges Team Leader and Service Manager to implement and deliver a trauma informed approach to refuge services.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities;

Working within the team  

· To ensure the professional and organisational requirements are respected and met during the delivery of advice.

· To assist the senior colleagues and Operations Manager in order to drive efficiency, quality, systems improvement and target achievement. 

 Casework and advice  

· To offer advice, advocacy and support to service users with various aspects related to their welfare as requested by the management of RMC and funders’ requirements.

· To maintain confidentiality in all dealings with service users and ensure their needs are met in a satisfactory and sensitive manner. 

· To provide appropriate support and mentoring to any volunteers under supervision. 

· To represent RMC at external meetings and events when required by the senior colleagues.

· To maintain effective working relationships with partners and stakeholders. 

A DBS check will be carried out for this post.

Flexibility

In order to deliver the stated aims of for this post, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above, such duties will fall within the scope of the job and be directly related within the appropriate pay grade. As an Annual Health Practitioner, you will provide support to local health services with their SMI (Severe Mental Illness) clinics. Solace Women’s Aid provides a wide range of services to victim/survivors of domestic and sexual abuse in Bexley including an advocacy and support service and specialist services co-located in a number of services. Solace works in partnership with the police to ensure that victim/survivors of domestic abuse are able to access the necessary support. As part of this partnership Solace are recruiting for an IDVA to be co-located in Lewisham Police Station, covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning. A key aspect of the role will be to advocate on behalf of service users to improve access to support in Bexley. This role will be based at Lewisham Police Station and within the Bexley Office.  

About the Role

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Police IDVA for Solace co-located in Lewisham Police station. As the IDVA you will provide immediate support for victim/survivors of abuse at all levels of intervention including carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning and providing short-term support and onward referral. In addition, you will act as the Police lead for Solace in Bexley, providing advice and guidance to Solace staff and the Police.

The Police IDVA will hold a case load of 15 cases.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with external agencies in your work and being the direct link to MARAC for Solace within Bexley.

In this varied and rewarding role you will engage, motivate and support young carers and in doing so you will make a real difference to young carers within Surrey.

You will be based at our offices in Burpham, Guildford for approximately one day a fortnight, with access to hotdesking at any time. Your remaining working hours will be spent engaging with young carers within youth settings, schools or other settings or undertaking planning/recording work from home. You will be need to be available during times that children and young people are available, and this includes planned evening and weekend work.

We are a Surrey wide service, our team work collaboratively to cover the county and for efficiency, your work will be focused in a specific geographical area. This is a fixed term role to cover a maternity leave.

Key responsibilities

• To complete an assessment of need with young carers and provide signposting advocacy and support.
• To work in schools/colleges to increase the identification and support of young carers.
• To provide regular and on-going time out and fun club sessions for young carers to meet others in similar situations and have a break from their caring role.
• To update the database and SYC webpages– for example to update young carers records and update details of planned youth clubs.
• To provide signposting and advocacy to Young Carers and their families.
• To facilitate bespoke sessions for 16-17 year olds.
• To facilitate a program of on-line activities (i.e. via zoom) to young carers.

About you

You must:

• Be confident in encouraging children, young people and their parents/carers to engage with our activities.
• Have experience of working with children, young people and families. e.g. in youth services /voluntary sector / social work settings.
• Have awareness of issues surrounding Young Carers.
• Have a flexible approach to working hours, as regular planned weekend and evening work is required.

In Birmingham our team has over 40 staff plus a team of volunteers. We specialise in housing advice and homelessness work, with a particular focus on families and people experiencing multiple disadvantage. About the role

We have a new three year partnership with a leading bank, which aims to build financial resilience and break the cycles that can see people experiencing financial problems and this having a negative effect on their housing situation.

Your role will be to provide leadership and line management for six team members, keeping up to date with legislation, mentoring and coaching your team on complex issues in housing, debt and welfare benefits. The views of people with Lived Experience is key to service design at Shelter and you will lead on making sure they are involved to deliver a service that is truly co-produced. We aim to empower communities, so you will develop and deliver training on rights awareness and build relationships within the community. Compliance is also a crucial part of the role - you will monitor and report on contract and financial performance, carry out casework supervision and file reviews and identify systemic housing issues.

About the team

In Birmingham hub we specialise in providing housing advice and homelessness work, with a particular focus on families and people experiencing multiple disadvantage. We work in partnership with a range of organisations to improve the underlying systems that prevent people from living securely in suitable, safe, affordable accommodation. This role will be to provide day to day leadership for our Peer Mentor Service, delivered in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust. FIRST stands for Forensic Intensive Support Recovery Teams, where Peer Mentors use their own lived experience of complex needs to provide early intervention to improve client outcomes.

About the role

You will be responsible for the day to day service delivery and line management of the Peer Mentors, supporting them to deliver tailor made and holistic support packages, integrating joint working protocols within NHS services. You will allocate referrals and work closely with the Service Manager and Service Commissioners to identify gaps in provision. At Shelter we are aiming to change the systems that cause the housing emergency so you will identify examples of good and bad practice which will then be used to call for systemic change.

About you

To succeed, you’ll need experience of working with people with complex needs and in a multi-agency context with partners, community groups and other agencies. A good understanding of housing, homelessness and welfare benefits issues is crucial. The communication skills it takes to line manage others and promote effective working relationships, with external agencies, people with lived experience and internally across Shelter, are key. Ideally you will understand employing individuals with lived experience of complex needs, the challenges and opportunities this presents and how best to provide effective support. You have experience of promoting take up of services both internally and externally.
