The team
The Northern Ireland team sit within the Energy Directorate of Energy Saving Trust. In Northern Ireland, our main focus is to deliver the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP), but we also are involved in other areas of work and deliver campaigns helping NI householders save energy and money.
There are currently four programme support officers who work very closely to support each other in delivering NISEP and report into the project manager of the team. The team also includes an assistant programme manager and is headed up by the programme manager for NI. The team collaborate with external stakeholders regularly and other teams of Energy Saving Trust.
The role
The programme support officer will be focusing on enabling people in Northern Ireland create warmer homes, reduce their energy bills, and lower their carbon footprint.
NISEP is an £8 million grant programme that provides funding for energy efficiency measures for domestic and commercial properties. Energy Saving Trust are the programme administrator of NISEP on behalf of the Utility Regulator in Northern Ireland.
The role will provide you with an inspiring opportunity to develop your programme management experience, and develop your knowledge in the Energy Access sector, helping our vulnerable customers.
What you’ll do
- Support the smooth running of the Energy Saving Trust NI programme work, ensuring compliance with processes and procedures.
- A strong focus on the administration of NISEP, including assessing payment claims; reviewing and analysing interim reports as well as other NISEP tasks.
- Liaise with external stakeholders as well as with Energy Saving Trust staff in other offices.
What you’ll bring
- You will be an excellent communicator and will be comfortable dealing with people at all levels. You will develop positive working relationships with all NISEP primary bidders, working closely with them on a day-to-day basis.
- Strong administrative and numeric skills as well as excellent attention to detail and a prolific knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent organisational skills and an understanding of the importance of meeting service level agreements (SLAs).

THE ROLE
The Support Services Team Leader will be responsible for leading a team of Administrators within our Support Services department to deliver exceptional service to our internal stakeholders and supporters. They will lead by example developing and motivating a multi skilled team to successfully achieve agreed Service Level Agreements.
The role will involve supporting the team to investigate and resolve issues / complaints / feedback using agreed Trust processes, procedures and policies along with briefing the team on new campaigns and conducting team meetings.

About this role
This role is an opportunity to participate in the global movement to protect the natural world; meeting and supporting incredible communities and organisations driving change to secure a sustainable future. You will be supporting our partners and carrying out grant administration in the Amphibian and Congo Basin Programmes, for which proficiency in both French and English is essential.
The role will be a fundamental part of Synchronicity Earth’s Programmes team (currently a team of seven people), working to help develop and grow the support we provide to our partners (grantees) across our programmes. Please note that first-stage interviews for this role will be conducted in both French and English.
Specific responsibilities will include the following:
- Manage some grantee partner relationships, including building trust and openness, identifying capacity needs, administrating grants, monitoring progress and fulfilling reporting requirements.
- Provide administrative support across the Programmes Team with grant management e.g. preparing of grant paperwork, reviewing partner reports and checklists (proposals), monitoring pipelines.
- Undertake research in focal areas for the Programmes Team, such as identifying intervention points and opportunities to make a difference in conservation.
- Contribute to communication products, including donor reports and applications, to support Synchronicity Earth’s fundraising and philanthropic goals.
- Produce and contribute to board papers and discussions.
- Update and undertake due diligence.
- Manage and maintain partner database, including data entry, preparing reports and basic analysis.
- Contribute to the development of Synchronicity Earth’s processes and systems around partner management and due diligence.

Synchronicity Earth is a UK-based, global environmental charity which funds work that aims to make our planet a better place to live for all its inhabitants.
We are a medium-sized charity which supports partners working to protect less well-known species and ecosystems around the world that receive less attention but face the greatest threats. We do this through our Conservation Programmes, which identify, fund, and support organisations with a focus on: Amphibians, Asian Species, Congo Basin, Biocultural Diversity, Freshwater, and Ocean. We also support work across two other areas: the More than Carbon initiative, a portfolio of climate and biodiversity projects targeted at corporate donors; and the Synchronicity Portfolio, which aims to foster systemic change to promote a greater focus on biodiversity conservation within different sectors. Skills and experience required
Essential
- Proficient written and spoken English equivalent to C1 or C2 level.
- Proficient written and spoken French equivalent to C1 or C2 level.
- Bachelor’s degree or three or more years’ work experience in a relevant area. This could be lived experience, volunteering, or work experience related to sectors such as biodiversity conservation, social justice, environmental protection, community organizing, or engagement with political and social movements.
- Demonstrable interest in ecology, endangered species and biodiversity conservation, social justice, or community organising.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality written materials.
- Computer literacy.
Desirable
- Experience in Africa (especially lived experience in West or Central Africa).
- Some understanding of community- and rights-based approaches.
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel both within the UK and overseas.
- Desire to work across a range of conservation issues and to undertake a diverse role.

Reporting, location, and work hours
This position is a permanent full-time position that is based in the Synchronicity Earth offices in Central London, with the option for hybrid office/home working if the successful applicant wishes with 2 days a week in the office (laptop would be provided for home working). The successful candidate must be already eligible to work in the UK.
Annual leave
25 days per year for a full-time position (in addition to public holidays), adjusted for part-time. We also run an employer-supported volunteering programme, where employees may take additional time-off (2 days per annum) to volunteer for community organisations and other charities (in accordance with our policy).

What you will be doing
- Project delivery: Getting involved in project delivery, such as foundational research for project development and delivering workshops.
- Project management: Overseeing the effective delivery of projects, including reporting, and supporting the planning and set up of new projects as they come online.
- Innovation and Development: Supporting us to improve and expand our projects and programmes. You will also assist in identifying new projects or funding opportunities and contribute to the preparation of funding proposals. This may involve exploring options for the governance structure of this area of work.
- Marketing and communications: Promoting our projects, developing our external communications and acting as an ambassador for our community work.
- Monitoring and evaluation: We are on a journey to better capture the impact of specific projects, and the impact that our community work has collectively. You will take an active role in supporting this element of our work.
- Partnership working: Collaboration is key to our approach. You will liaise with existing clients and partners for project delivery, develop new partnerships to further our aims and also take part in key networking and external events.
- Team development: You will work closely with the Community Impact Lead to contribute to the development of the team, during our team meetings and away days. You will be comfortable managing staff, teams and subcontractors to deliver desired outcomes.
- Day-to-day operations: Working closely with the Community Impact Lead, HR and Finance, to support our remote project teams, problem solve issues as they arise, develop our internal systems and processes, maximise efficiencies and drive improvements.

As our Key Relationships Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and refining administrative systems for the Key Relationships fundraising team. It’s a fast-paced role that involves managing your own time well and communicating effectively with all members of a busy and dynamic team.
Processing donations, you’ll monitor various databases and sources for new donors and gifts, work with relevant fundraisers on communications and handle Key Relationships incoming post. We are looking for a creative, compassionate and enthusiastic leader who can help us not only reach but exceed our goals for this project and be the nurturing force to help Roots to Wellbeing develop and grow.
Roots to Wellbeing project aims:
- Provide a safe and inclusive space for participants to receive weekly support.
- Help participants to connect with nature and socialise with others to feel happier, less anxious and less isolated.
- Support participants to access other beneficial services, where appropriate, including health, social and financial.
- Support participants to move onto outdoor work or volunteering with friends of groups where appropriate.
- Facilitate a positive journey through the service for participants to ensure as many people as possible can access the service.
The role
The roles has four main areas of work:
1. Leadership and management:
- Lead the Roots to Wellbeing team to reach its goals.
- Line manage and support three Mental Health Officers, each delivering Roots to Wellbeing on one site.
- Work with local communities and other team members to explore new opportunities for the project and develop solutions.
- Work with CEO and Head of Fundraising to secure funding for project development.
2. Project management:
- Oversee the delivery and development of the project to meet key KPIs.
- Collate qualitative and quantitative data and produce impact reports for funders.
- Support team to ensure administrative records are kept up to date, including but not limited to: maintaining accurate participant records, work programme, incident reporting, risk management, external outreach, website.
- Develop a thorough communications strategy and build on current local referral relationships to further embed the programme within the VCSE & Health sector.
- Ensure service standard and quality is consistent across sites and policies and procedures are followed.
- Recruit and induct volunteers to support session delivery.
- Work in partnership with stakeholders within and across the organisation to deliver project goals.
- Attend networking meetings and community events to raise awareness of the project and demonstrate its impact.
3. Session delivery at Hartcliffe Millennium Green:
- Continually build and maintain relationships with local referral partners to achieve a consistent referral rate into the project.
- Deliver weekly Roots to Wellbeing sessions by; planning and facilitating delivery of sessions and activities in line with 5 pathways to nature connectedness and that are accessible to all participants, organising logistics of sessions such as travel, food and equipment, acting as safeguarding lead during sessions, liaising with co-facilitator, leading peer-support style check in at the beginning of the sessions and the grounding and meditation at the end.
- Lead on all direct communication with participants at Hartcliffe Millennium Green. Support them to create personalised development plans, signposting and referrals where needed.
4. Other:
- Support the work of the wider charity and specifically the South Bristol team as required.
- Representing the charity externally through media work and presentation where necessary.

The role of Mooring Ranger is to support the effective management of moorings and responsible use of the towpath in the Trust’s London & South East region.
This is an exciting time for the Central London Customer Support team. Recent growth means we have additional new roles in the team, and we are looking to appoint 1 x full time (37 hours p/wk) positions. Within our London region we have an increasing number of boats registered on our waterways - they are busy, thriving places and The Regent's Canal is no exception. To support boaters who visit the capital, the Regent’s Canal has a number of pre-bookable mooring sites including Paddington Basin, Rembrandt Garden and Islington Eco Zone. As we strive together to ensure cleaner air on the waterways for all, the role of a Mooring Ranger is to support the effective management of the towpath moorings, pre-bookable moorings and Eco Mooring Zone. You will act as the primary point of contact for engagement, providing support and information to boaters, local people and residents.
Locations and coverage:
This is a central London role, focused on the Regent’s canal, from Little Venice to Limehouse, whilst also including frequent visits to the Rivers Lee and Stort in East London
As Mooring Ranger, your formal base will be our Little Venice office located near Paddington, however you will spend most of your time every week out on the towpath along the Regents Canal being highly visible, available and pro-actively engaging with our boaters and waterway customers specifically. You need to love engaging with others, sharing knowledge and facts, listening and educating and being responsive to enquiries quickly. This is an all-weather, all year around role, so you really need to like being outside! You will be working closely with other members of the Boat Licence Customer Support Team and will report to the Boating & Customer Services Manager.
This is a customer facing role, interacting all day every day with local residents, our waterway users and visitors, and we are keen to hear from people who can demonstrate an ability to communicate with individuals and groups effectively, and show exceptional ability to engage and care about every interaction you have. The hours are 37 hours per week and will be worked mainly Monday – Friday, however, weekend work will be required from time to time to support with activities such as regional event days.
Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
About the role
On a day to day basis your role will be to:
- Establish an authoritative, yet friendly, customer-facing presence on the moorings sites.
- Patrol up to 5 miles a day
- Promote responsible and considerate behaviour amongst all Mooring users.
- Help monitor and manage the use of all moorings along the Regents Canal.
- Liaise with key stakeholders including customers, council officers, local police and Canalside residents.
- Mediate, resolve, record and investigate conflicts between towpath users, boaters and land-based neighbours, record, investigate and respond to complaints relating to moorings, use of the towpath, crime and anti-social behaviour.
- Produce and apply notices and letters to boats, personal property and other materials left on the towpath; and tags and temporary signs at mooring locations.
- Undertake towpath patrols and specific site visits to monitor mooring use, towpath use and Trust assets.
- Use smart-phone or handheld computer (tablet) technology to collect information on boats and to report moorings or towpath issues.
- Work with customers and internal colleagues to help resolve issues arising with paid for pre-bookable moorings (overstaying and payments)
- Manage and report any health and safety issues arising within your area and the surrounding areas.
- Report and where indicated address any defects with canal infrastructure and the Eco Mooring electrical bollard systems.
- Undertake minor works / operational tasks in support of good customer service, e.g. using small/power tools to replace signage, painting bollards and stencils, using burners to apply thermoplastic lettering etc. (training will be provided)
- Lead or assist on moving work boats for operational purposes (training will be provided)
- Support the Trust to implement corporate policies and objectives as required, e.g. delivery of winter mooring scheme, monitoring of boats, assisting with movement and/or removal of boats, towpath survey work, addressing rough sleeping, towpath campaigns etc.
- Maintain effective and efficient records and comply with all relevant reporting procedures.
- Wear body worn video during towpath patrols as and when required.
Additional information:
The role will involve regular working from, and travel to, different offices in the London & South East region, as well as occasional travel outside the region. Driving license is desirable as travel across the geographical patch and to some remote locations is to be expected.
The post-holder will be required to wear branded uniform (minimum of branded T-shirt/sweatshirt; and branded work trousers and outer jacket as appropriate) when on customer-facing duties, and appropriate safe footwear at all times.

Keep Britain Tidy has a new opportunity for a Project Manager to manage the Chewing Gum Task Force programme. The Chewing Gum Task Force is a partnership between Defra, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs in Northern Ireland, Scottish Government and Welsh Government and chewing gum producers including Mars Wrigley and Perfetti Van Melle which aims to clean up historic gum staining from UK high streets and change behaviour so that more people bin their gum.
The Project Manager will lead on overall administration of the scheme and manage the cleansing grant programme for councils, working alongside partner organisation Behaviour Change. In Years 1 and 2 of the scheme, participating councils have seen reductions in gum littering of up to 80% in the first two months. Now in Year 3, we will shortly distribute more than £1.2m funding to councils across the UK.
This is an exciting role within a fast-paced charity. You will have a proven track record in project management, ideally in environmental projects and/or grant schemes. Excellent organisational and record keeping skills are a must, along with the ability to form good working relationships with Chewing Gum Task Force stakeholders.
