Job Purpose:
The post holder will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational development of the charity with particular responsibility for grant awarding functions to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with our charitable objectives and values.
A senior leadership team member, this role will lead Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s grant awarding process, develop multi-year strategies with a focus on long term funding priorities & achieving the charity’s purpose and demonstrating our impact.
They will build strategic relationships with key members of the Trust and other charities with a focus on partnership working to maximise the impact of funding and meet the Charity & Trust ambitions. They will lead on the development and implementation of a framework to demonstrate our impact.
Main Duties/Tasks
Strategic Planning, Financial Management & Reporting
Lead on the development and implementation of strategic, multi-year plans and budgets, identify upcoming funding requirements.
Monitor progress against strategic plans, budgets, KPIs, producing reports.
Develop and implement a framework for demonstrating our charitable impact across the charity funding pillars.
Build strategic partnerships internally and externally to support funding priorities and maximise our impact.
Attend the Charitable Spending Committee and Board meetings.
Grant Applications, Awards & Reporting
Oversee and develop the grant process, ensuring it aligns with the charitable spending strategy, provides detailed, relevant information and monitors performance.
Manage the grant award process, ensuring that applications are reviewed and approved in line with the agreed authority levels, ensuring that papers are appropriate for the Charitable Spending Committee and Board review.
Maintain and update the grant Terms & Conditions.
Provide leadership and direction to the Grants Manager, empowering them & the team to deliver against set goals and objectives.
Communication & Relationships
Lead on the development of an internal communications plan, promoting both the opportunities available to apply for Charitable Funding within the Trust and the impact of projects that have been funded by the Charity. Promote the work of the Charity throughout the Trust and with funders.
Develop relationships with the Charitable Spending Committee.
Develop key relationships throughout the Trust that support the grant award and reporting process.
To build and manage key relationships with existing partners.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Finance Team, working together to provide a smooth process.
Lead on internal liaison to ensure that fundraising teams have the information they need to report back to funders and donors on how their donations have made a vital difference.
Lead on providing and co-ordinating information to the Head of Marketing for the yearly impact report and Annual Report for the Financial Statements.
Innovation & Development
Be the lead specialist in grant awarding and maintain strong knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice.
Work with the database manager to develop the use of the CRM system with the grants team to maximise efficiency.
Work with the database manager to develop a framework for impact reporting that links to our CRM system.
Other Duties
Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.
Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.
Attend and support on events run by the fundraising teams where required.
Any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

- Fully Qualified Accountant
- Proven experience at a senior level in a finance role with responsibility across the whole finance function.

Coram is the UK’s oldest children’s charity founded by Thomas Coram in London helping vulnerable children and young people since 1739. One of the nine members of the Coram group, Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is the UK’s specialist centre for children’s rights in education, immigration, community care and family law, and provides significant international legal systems consultancy. We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation. Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. About the role
This role will provide financial and operational leadership and management for CCLC particularly focussed on the Legal Practice Unit and the Migrant Children’s Project but with support for the Child Law Advice Service and Coram International where required. Managing a small finance team, the role will hold primary responsibility for core financial functions within CCLC including legal aid billing and management and tracking of grant and other charitable funding. Through systematic and efficient financial management, the post holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial sustainability. The role will act as a key point of contact with Coram’s central finance team and a range of internal and external stakeholders on financial matters.
The role will also oversee the smooth running of the London and Colchester offices through line management of operations and administrative staff.
The role would suit a high organised and efficient business support professional with experience of financial management within the legal or charity sector. In particular, candidates with experience of legal billing and more specifically, civil legal aid billing, would be welcomed.
This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the finance and operations team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period (to be negotiated with the successful candidate).The finance team are split between the London and Colchester offices and the post holder should expect some travel to both locations. The large majority of the legal and policy team are based in London and as such regular (at least twice weekly) presence in our London office will be expected. However, on other days the candidate could be based in the London or Colchester office.
Whilst this is a full-time position, we will consider requests for part-time working (28 hours per week minimum) and we will endeavour to offer some flexibility with days and hours to be agreed.

This is an opportunity for a Finance Officer to step into a small, supportive Finance team and to play a vital part in maintaining our accounting records, administering payments to suppliers, staff expenses and petty cash – and assisting in the general running of the unit.
Managing a high volume accounts payable function, you will take on a range of responsibilities including invoice and expense processing, reconciling supplier statements, processing weekly payment runs and managing the accounts inbox, including dealing with queries.

- Developing successful events;
- Overseeing publicity and interpretation; and
- Managing volunteers.
The role involves working to targets and will involve some weekend working and bank holidays.
This is a great opportunity for someone to have a big positive impact on RSPB income and support, building a cohesive visitor team, and engaging and inspiring both new and traditional audiences at Old Moor nature reserve. The Public Funding Manager will play an instrumental role within a dynamic team of professionals working together to deliver public funding needed for highly impactful conservation projects around the world that benefit people, nature and climate goals, including across Africa, Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Caribbean.
The Public Funding Manager is primarily responsible for managing the development and submission of high-quality project proposal applications to European public funding agencies that support TNC’s Shared Conservation Agenda programs in Europe and globally. About the role
The Crisis Financing Training & Capacity Development Advisor will be responsible for developing and expanding an innovative package of trainings and learning for the Start Network.
You will play a crucial role in the ongoing capacity development of Start Network organisation, by disseminating and institutionalising new developments in learning, knowledge and terminology
related to Start Network crisis financing programming throughout the staff team.
You will continue to develop new and strengthen existing training packages that are of high quality and will ensure that Start Network's New Financing programming is mainstreamed throughout the sector in a sustainable manner.
You will be responsible for assisting in delivering trainings to member agency colleagues, Start Network Hubs as well as training the Start Network team. You will coordinate a group of ‘trainers' who can offer high quality capacity development opportunities. You will also ensure that monitoring, evaluation and accountability is built into capacity development to measure outputs and outcomes more systematically.
In this role, you will:
- Leverage technical expertise from Start team members, technical partners and the anticipation and risk financing building blocks framework to design modularised training and learning materials to meet the capacity development needs of the Start Network, including e-learning.
- Identify and develop a training of trainers (TOT) programme and build up a group of trainers within the Start team and across the Start Network membership.
- Strengthen the training and facilitation skills of Start Network team
- Develop a learning pathway with the technical leads to ensure different stakeholders can access the training necessary for their role

Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.

Contract: 1 year fixed term
Hours: Full-time (35 hours a week)

Salary: £49,680 - £54,550 per annum plus excellent benefits

About this job
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our supportive and fun team at a time when exciting people plans are starting to take shape for the MS Society.
You’ll be an experienced HR Business Partner, with the ability to hit the ground running, to lead on a number of exciting upcoming HR projects for 2024.
Our organisation is transforming the way in which it works and the HR team will be at the heart of these changes, supporting managers and teams on a variety of projects.
You’ll have worked in a similar role at this level. You’ll have substantial experience of:
- Providing expert employee relations advice and support on serious and complex cases
- Supporting on a variety of people projects
- Supporting various organisational changes
As part of the HR Operations team you will be responsible for providing an efficient, friendly and a high quality service to customers across the organisation.
From providing first line advice, guidance and support with casework, including grievances, disciplinary matters, and sickness absence.
In addition, you’ll be undertaking a range of associated general HR transactional activities.
You’ll have:
- A CIPD qualification (ideally level 7) or equivalent
- Experience of working in a HR environment, having sound knowledge of employment law and employee relations procedures.
- Experience of employee dispute resolution.
- Experience of working with an HRIS, including data management and reporting.
