Job Purpose:
The post holder will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational development of the charity with particular responsibility for grant awarding functions to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with our charitable objectives and values.
A senior leadership team member, this role will lead Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s grant awarding process, develop multi-year strategies with a focus on long term funding priorities & achieving the charity’s purpose and demonstrating our impact.
They will build strategic relationships with key members of the Trust and other charities with a focus on partnership working to maximise the impact of funding and meet the Charity & Trust ambitions. They will lead on the development and implementation of a framework to demonstrate our impact.
Main Duties/Tasks
Strategic Planning, Financial Management & Reporting
Lead on the development and implementation of strategic, multi-year plans and budgets, identify upcoming funding requirements.
Monitor progress against strategic plans, budgets, KPIs, producing reports.
Develop and implement a framework for demonstrating our charitable impact across the charity funding pillars.
Build strategic partnerships internally and externally to support funding priorities and maximise our impact.
Attend the Charitable Spending Committee and Board meetings.
Grant Applications, Awards & Reporting
Oversee and develop the grant process, ensuring it aligns with the charitable spending strategy, provides detailed, relevant information and monitors performance.
Manage the grant award process, ensuring that applications are reviewed and approved in line with the agreed authority levels, ensuring that papers are appropriate for the Charitable Spending Committee and Board review.
Maintain and update the grant Terms & Conditions.
Provide leadership and direction to the Grants Manager, empowering them & the team to deliver against set goals and objectives.
Communication & Relationships
Lead on the development of an internal communications plan, promoting both the opportunities available to apply for Charitable Funding within the Trust and the impact of projects that have been funded by the Charity. Promote the work of the Charity throughout the Trust and with funders.
Develop relationships with the Charitable Spending Committee.
Develop key relationships throughout the Trust that support the grant award and reporting process.
To build and manage key relationships with existing partners.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Finance Team, working together to provide a smooth process.
Lead on internal liaison to ensure that fundraising teams have the information they need to report back to funders and donors on how their donations have made a vital difference.
Lead on providing and co-ordinating information to the Head of Marketing for the yearly impact report and Annual Report for the Financial Statements.
Innovation & Development
Be the lead specialist in grant awarding and maintain strong knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice.
Work with the database manager to develop the use of the CRM system with the grants team to maximise efficiency.
Work with the database manager to develop a framework for impact reporting that links to our CRM system.
Other Duties
Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.
Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.
Attend and support on events run by the fundraising teams where required.

The International Society for Influenza and Other Respiratory Virus Diseases (ISIRV) is an independent scientific membership-based society promoting the prevention, detection, treatment, and control of influenza and other respiratory virus diseases since 2005. Key responsibilities

Job Description
The Head of Advocacy and Policy will be responsible for developing an excellent Advice Service and Retention Team to support and advise students effectively to enable excellent student experience and satisfaction.
This role will lead on the development of effective insights, representation and support initiatives/campaigns for students, across our three campuses at Greenwich, Avery Hill and Medway.
This role will enhance work with the diverse student population of the University of Greenwich and lead a dynamic team to ensure students have consistent and accessible services that contribute to positive student experience.
This role sits within the wider Membership Services department, together with other key areas consisting of; Activities, Sport, Academic Communities, Representation and Democracy, we provide a high-quality service for students, that they can shape, steer and be at the heart of.
This postholder will be part of the GSU Senior Leadership Team and will be expected to contribute to department and organisation wide strategic development.
The post holder will:
- Have expert knowledge in areas of in relation to Advice and Retention and policies and legislation relating to such activity
- Support and develop strong student-led communities and campaigns in areas of: Advice, wellbeing and retention so that members can thrive

- Develop and oversee a structured approach to gathering, analysing and reporting on data relating to engagement of students with our services and to student views on key issues relating to retention and success
- Develop and oversee processes of collecting quantitative and qualitative data from casework to analyse trends and inform feedback for the SU and university
- Ensure evaluation mechanism are embedded in the teams working practises and that findings are shared and used to implement learnings with the goal of improving services
- Support Officers by preparing information, statistics and trends about key services to be shared within the University committee cycle

Budget and Financial Management

You will be responsible for the effective delivery, management and supervision of the Community Energy and Utilities support service. This includes all aspects of people management and service monitoring impact and reporting, and leading communication.
You will ensure that your team, Team Leader and external stakeholders are appropriately informed in relation to service impact and performance and will take action to resolve any performance issues. To lead inclusively, providing effective monitoring, support, guidance and direction to your team and service colleagues. To actively motivate and engage your team, work with senior colleagues in the pursuit of excellence for the Community Energy service and those it supports.
Fixed term for 2 years, 35 hours per week. Some flexibility will be required as there maybe some evening and weekend work.
Location: Based at either at Scope's head office (London) or Manchester office and also working from home (hybrid).
In this role you will
- Lead inclusively, providing effective monitoring, support, guidance and direction to programme teams and service colleagues.
- Lead service programme delivery, impact and outcome targets and ensure these are maintained, documented, and shared taking action where standards are not met.
- Keep customers and colleagues safe through the effective use and implementation of policy and processes within your programmes – ensuring poor performance is addressed and improvements maintained.
- Work flexibly, leading the implementation and management of change to meet emerging priorities, service requirements and outputs.
- As a Programmes Lead, you will be fully involved in our safeguarding processes and will undertake the duties of Designated Safeguarding Lead.

- Experience in delivering and leading support within the Energy and Utilities sector.

As Research Engagement Lead you will lead on medical research and patient research engagement for the Society.
This is a new role at National Eczema Society and demonstrates the charity's commitment to growing their support for eczema research. There is considerable scope for the postholder to shape the way the Society supports eczema research in the future. They have an ambitious strategy, including establishing a research grant programme and creating an 'Experts by Experience' patient panel to ensure research engagement drives the change people with eczema want most. The postholder provides the principal channel of communication and advice between the charity and the eczema research community.
The successful candidate will have experience of research grant administration and a background working with patients and supporting the involvement of patients and carers in research. Essential Criteria
- Fully Qualified Accountant
- Proven experience at a senior level in a finance role with responsibility across the whole finance function.
- Experience at a senior level as Company Secretary or equivalent
- Experienced in delivering finance system and/or ERP transformation
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop team members to their full potential.
- Demonstrated aptitude for strategic thinking, planning and analysis.
- Excellent financial planning, annual budgeting and forecasting skills
Desirable Criteria
- Charity sector experience particularly the nature of unrestricted, designated and restricted funds, VAT Partial Exemption, Gift Aid and the Charity SORP
- An understanding of education and qualification regulation and compliance
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
