As a Specialist Advocacy Worker, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting parents with LDAD through their journey of parenting. From navigating complex legal proceedings to accessing essential services, you'll be their trusted ally, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights upheld.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide independent advocacy support to parents with LDAD on various issues.
- Help parents understand the child protection process and make informed decisions.
- Advocate for parents' rights, ensuring fair treatment and access to services.
- Work in partnership with parents to navigate care proceedings and other challenges.
- Monitor and report on advocacy provision's impact and effectiveness.

We are looking for a tutor to run engaging group sessions that teach people how to confidently use technology to live more independently and increase their employability.

Main responsibilities

You’ll plan and deliver activities to support the student’s learning goals, ensuring sessions are creative, challenging and engaging.

We are looking for a Careers Adviser to join our Career Pathways team in Leeds. Career Pathways provides careers advice to disabled young people. It supports them in their transition from youth to adulthood.

Career Pathways equips young disabled people with knowledge and confidence. The service enables them to fulfil their career aspirations and personal goals.
As a Careers Adviser you will be giving careers advice to young disabled people in schools across Leeds, at our office and online. We are offering a hybrid model of delivery so working from home for part of your week is available.
About you
- You will have experience of supporting young disabled people to build their confidence and work towards their goals. This could be in either an education or social care setting.
- You will have the confidence to deliver 1:1 and group sessions. These will take place in person and online.
- You will be able to produce clear and relevant action plans. These action plans will aid customers to explore and achieve their career goals

We're looking for a passionate individual to provide advocacy to Disabled people living in Norfolk. The purpose of this role is to:
To provide comprehensive advocacy to people facing disabling barriers, with a non-judgemental approach to ensure that individuals can make informed decisions about their lives.
Work to empower people to make their own, informed decisions and support them to have their voices heard.
To offer issue-based advocacy to disabled people in the community in areas such as social care, mental health, housing and child protection.
Principal tasks:

- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of energy sector developments, including changes in legislation, available grants, and best practices in energy conservation.

This is an exciting chance to really make a substantial difference to the young people we support at Active8.
Ideally we are looking for a candidate with experience of counselling, mentoring, teaching or youth work delivery. Having led on projects, running workshops and 121 delivery.
However willingness to learn, passion for the cause and transferable skills count for a lot and training will be provided if you do not have direct experience but you are creative, good at organising, enjoy building relationships and have an eye for detail.
An average week might involve a residential or day activity with our group. It might be meeting members on a 121 to support them with their individual needs or planning the next exciting event for our mentors and mentees.
As you would expect when working for a small charity no two days are the same and we all ‘muck in’ doing things outside of any job description - which will make working at Active8 so varied and enjoyable.
The post holder will not be expected to provide personal care. The successful candidate may be required where appropriate to support young people with tasks such as eating their food, drinking, pushing people in wheelchairs and supporting them on activities.
Job description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated counsellor, mentor, teacher or youth worker who has excellent planning skills, is great at communicating with different groups of people and has the ability to support our members.
Preferably the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience of leading on successful counselling, mentoring or youth work projects, have experience of 121 and lone working, experience of managing relationships at varying levels, an understanding of disability awareness, have experience leading workshops and qualifications and working to budgets.
The post holder will be required to manage the day-to-day jobs of the project including planning and running workshops, organising members to get to events including transport and adaptations needed and supporting members with 121 support. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting the rest of the team and other projects we run including Acceler8, Illumin8 and our Advocacy work.

Energy Advisers - Leeds will manage a caseload of disabled households struggling with their energy and water bills, supporting, and empowering them over the phone. Customers in need of either more in-depth support, or support with water bills, will be referred to you by a separate team of advisers.

The hours for this role will be varied over shift patterns from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday
Location - Working at Scope's Leeds office with working from home some or most of the time.
The role
In this role you will be:
Reviewing and confirming details from a previous assessment with the customer and conduct a second assessment to fully understand their support needs.
Developing goal-based action plans that clearly show how the customers support needs will be addressed.
Where needed, complete actions on customer’s behalf such as speaking to a supplier or submitting an application. Provide clear and detailed updates to the customer afterwards.
Measure, record and track “distance travelled” for each customer in caseload and ensure that an evidence-based approach is adopted to recording the customer journey
To work collaboratively within the team to provide support where needed to ensure KPI’s are achieved
You will manage a personal caseload and provide practical advice that may be required for your diverse customer base
About You
You will have a strong background in a customer focused environment, preferably on a helpline and experience of communicating with difficult and complex information via telephone.
You will have the ability to communicate with a wide range of customers with an understanding of different needs and respond to these accordingly.
You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to be able to communicate with customers and colleagues in a clear, meaningful, and effective way.
This service helps customers through their unfair extra costs and additional vulnerability to fuel poverty. Therefore, you will demonstrate effective person-centred listening, empathy, and probing skills to respond to underlying issues and assist customers to make informed choices.
Being able to respond positively to change while being able to work effectively with conflicting priorities will allow to succeed within this role.
It is essential that you have a good working knowledge of IT including Microsoft Office Products. Methodical, with excellent attention to detail when using databases.
You will bring drive and enthusiasm to your role and can demonstrate that you care passionately about improving the lives of disabled people and their families. It is desirable that you have a good knowledge of Energy and Utilities advice. If you do not already have the qualification, you will be trained to a Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

National charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which trains dogs to transform the lives of deaf people, is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Dog Training Instructor in and around the Newcastle and Morpeth area.
What you will be doing
Working as a Dog Training instructor you will be fully responsible and accountable for overseeing the entire training lifecycle from puppyhood to the moment they qualify as a Hearing Dog. This is a highly rewarding role where you can directly impact a person’s life.
The location will be community based in and around Newcastle and Morpeth.
What you will need to succeed
- We are looking for a self-motivated and positive individual with practical and theoretical experience in dog training and behaviour, with skills in teaching, mentoring and coaching people.
- The ability to develop and train dogs using the skills of our volunteers is essential so we are looking for someone who finds value in working with both people and dogs and is driven by the overall goal to help train more dogs for deaf people.
- You will need resilience and a high degree of efficiency to be a successful Dog Training Instructor.
- Preferably be educated to degree level or equivalent in the relevant subject area.

· Collating monthly and quarterly management reports, providing impact against department KPIs.

The ideal candidate will have:

Your role
The SEND Education Helpline Adviser provides specialist education advice by telephone, e-mail, and social media to families with disabled children in the UK. You will be supportive and show clear boundaries when offering advice within the scope of the organisation and be confident when dealing with complex and challenging callers and conversations. You will keep up to date with Education law and guidance in UK and signpost callers to Contacts online resources or to relevant local national charities and agencies.
What we’re looking for
You will have at least one year’s experience (or part-time equivalent) of working in an advice role of which SEND advice formed a substantial part. You will have experience and a good understanding of education issues that may impact families. In-depth knowledge of the SEND law in England Part 3 Children and Families Act 2014 and a working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015. You will be able to confidently navigate websites to identify relevant information. You will have experience of using a CRM database to enter client records. You will be flexible and adaptable in your role and enjoy working in a friendly and supportive team.

Job Description
- Provides individualised support for interns at the host business worksite placement or competitive job which includes: job coaching, identifying job placements, assistive technology, etc.
- Attends host business induction to ensure student understanding and learning
- Works with managers and co-workers to educate on disability awareness
- Communicates with parents on a regular basis
- Visits students and give feedback to all team members
- Meets daily with tutor to discuss student progress
- Meets regularly with business liaison, managers and peer mentors to discuss student strengths and challenges, issues, progress, etc
- Works with tutor to plan events such as induction, information nights/Open days and graduation
- Works with other team members to provide internal and external marketing for business and community such as newsletter articles, website information, tours, community presentations, social media etc.
