AFSG Coordinator Role Description
The Academic Forum for the Study of Gambling (AFSG) is seeking a Coordinator to support organisational sustainability, membership, and outreach activities. This is a one-year contract position with the possibility of extension. The salary available ranges between £30,000 and £40,000 depending on experience, qualifications, and time commitment. This is a part-time (between 2 and 4 days a week, to be agreed upon with the successful applicant), remote working position, and the applicant must be based somewhere in the United Kingdom.
The AFSG Coordinator will report to the AFSG Executive Committee and will work closely with Greo Evidence Insights (Greo), the organisation that provides administrative and logistical support to the AFSG. The Coordinator will work independently on the tasks outlined below and will be required to attend meetings of the AFSG to provide regular progress updates.
Responsibilities:
AFSG planning and sustainability.
The Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Developing and enacting a sustainability plan to establish the AFSG as an independent formal, registered charity, not-for-profit, or similar appropriate entity. This could include, but is not limited to the following activities:
- researching possible organisational structures including liaising with other academic societies/membership bodies to gain understanding of their operations, infrastructure, articles of incorporation and funding structures;
- proposing an organisational structure that would support AFSG sustainability goals;
- connecting with professionals and services necessary to implement a sustainability plan; and recruiting trustees (if applicable).
Network growth and promotion.
The Coordinator will be responsible for:
- promoting and raising the profile of the AFSG; developing and implementing a communications strategy to increase engagement with the AFSG;
- creating, writing, sharing, and engaging with relevant content via AFSG social media channels;
- managing (i.e., formatting, maintaining distribution list, and disseminating) an AFSG newsletter or other equivalent communication project;
- seeking opportunities to promote the AFSG and AFSG funding opportunities in appropriate locations such as academic journals or research databases; managing all membership communications;
- assessing and proposing other appropriate knowledge translation opportunities and activities for the AFSG;
- supporting other AFSG activities, projects, and initiatives that may arise, as they relate to membership relations, communications, and outreach;
- and maintaining and updating the AFSG website.
Mobilisation of funded research projects.
The Coordinator will be responsible for:
- organizing a webinar series featuring AFSG funded research presentations/webinars for AFSG members;
- supporting the organising committee of the Current Advances in Gambling Research conference series.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications.
The AFSG Coordinator must have:
- experience in one or more of the following sectors:
- mental health and wellbeing; academic research/support; professional societies or the charity sector; bid development and partnership engagement;
- excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to network and build meaningful relationships;
- experience managing social media and webinar platforms;
- experience using basic tools to build and manage websites;
- ability to recognise, navigate, and escalate sensitive issues to the AFSG Executive Committee and Greo as appropriate.
Desirable qualifications and experience.
It would be valuable for the AFSG Coordinator have one or both of the following assets:
- experience establishing a UK registered Charity
- knowledge of the field of gambling studies

Fuel Bank - Support Administrator
Location – Remote based role with occasional travel to the Midlands for team meetings & training.
Hours – Part & Full Time Positions. F/T – 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. P/T 20+ hours flexible Monday to Friday to suit the needs of the charity and individual’s work life balance.
Salary - £11.55ph (salary review’s to be conducted in April 2024).

Fuel Bank Foundation is the only UK charity to focus on the challenges of people living in fuel crisis. We provide emergency financial support through our network of partners who identify people who cannot afford to pre-pay for their energy.
As a Support Administrator, you will work closely with the team to support the communications through the email inbox, holding telephone assessments and by the processing of queries and applications. You will also work closely with other departments within the charity and ensure clear and consistent communication is delivered and additional support is given where needed.
Some of your duties and responsibilities include:
· Manage the daily queries that are received into the team’s inbox.
· Holding telephone assessments to establish the support needs of the client.
· Request additional information as required in regard to applications.
· Liaise with partners and applicants to ensure all relevant detail is given and gathered.
· Update inhouse systems and Excel spreadsheets.
· Monitor progress rates of applications and where communication may be needed.
· Ensuring all data is correct so that Internal departments can trust the integrity of the data on the company’s system.
· Escalate any queries where needed to other members of the team.
· Build relationships with key partners via calls and emails.
· To assist with all associated administration.
· Ensure the smooth running of each application.
· Liaise with internal departments regarding follow up communications.
· Produce reports where required for senior team.
· Accurate electronic filing of documentation.
The person for the role will:
· Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to adapt the way you communicate to suit different situations.
· Have excellent written and verbal communication, with telephone customer service experience.
· Have strong empathy skills with real life skills to deal with sensitive situations with compassion and understanding.
· Have a passion for working in this area of support work.
· Have knowledge of internal IT software operating systems preferable.
· Have a good understanding of Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Outlook

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quality and Audit officer to join our Quality and Care Standards team and working closely with the Quality Assurance and Audit Manager within care services.
You will work closely with members of the Quality & Care Standards Team to support and contribute to quality, innovation, audit and effectiveness activities across care homes including conducting audits, project planning, data collection and analysis, reporting and presentation of outcomes improving the quality and effectiveness of clinical services and care for our residents.
The Quality Assurance and Audit section is also responsible for Whole Home Audits, Support Surgeries in the homes, Targeted audit visits and training to improve quality.
You will have a high standard of general education to GCSE level or above to include L5 Health and Social Care and have previous health & social care experience. Awareness of clinical audit procedures and clinical effectiveness processes are essential.
Please Note: Whilst this role is Home Based there is a requirement to spend time away at the RBL care homes to provide the support required.
