About the team

In Birmingham our team has over 40 staff plus a team of volunteers. We specialise in housing advice and homelessness work, with a particular focus on families and people experiencing multiple disadvantage. We partner with a range of organisations to challenge the underlying systems that prevent people from living securely in suitable, safe, affordable accommodation.

About the role

We have a new three year partnership with a leading bank, which aims to build financial resilience and break the cycles that can see people experiencing financial problems and this having a negative effect on their housing situation.

Your role will be to provide leadership and line management for six team members, keeping up to date with legislation, mentoring and coaching your team on complex issues in housing, debt and welfare benefits. The views of people with Lived Experience is key to service design at Shelter and you will lead on making sure they are involved to deliver a service that is truly co-produced. We aim to empower communities, so you will develop and deliver training on rights awareness and build relationships within the community. Compliance is also a crucial part of the role - you will monitor and report on contract and financial performance, carry out casework supervision and file reviews and identify systemic housing issues.

About you

You will need experience of working with people facing exclusion and disadvantage and in a multi-disciplinary context with partners, community groups and other agencies, acting as a safeguarding lead. A good understanding of housing, debt advice, and welfare benefits is essential. The communication skills it takes to line manage others, promote effective working relationships, with external agencies, people with lived experience and internally across Shelter, are key. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to manage externally funded contracts including reporting and financial oversight.

In Birmingham hub we specialise in providing housing advice and homelessness work, with a particular focus on families and people experiencing multiple disadvantage. We work in partnership with a range of organisations to improve the underlying systems that prevent people from living securely in suitable, safe, affordable accommodation. This role will be to provide day to day leadership for our Peer Mentor Service, delivered in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust. FIRST stands for Forensic Intensive Support Recovery Teams, where Peer Mentors use their own lived experience of complex needs to provide early intervention to improve client outcomes.

About the role

You will be responsible for the day to day service delivery and line management of the Peer Mentors, supporting them to deliver tailor made and holistic support packages, integrating joint working protocols within NHS services. You will allocate referrals and work closely with the Service Manager and Service Commissioners to identify gaps in provision. At Shelter we are aiming to change the systems that cause the housing emergency so you will identify examples of good and bad practice which will then be used to call for systemic change.

You’ll empower your clients to take actions for themselves or will advocate on their behalf for better service, support and outcomes, so they can live their life with Parkinson's in the way they choose.

Are you an experienced adviser who has a strong background in the delivery of high-quality advice and a good working knowledge of welfare benefits? 

We are looking for an enthusiastic caseworker to join the team, to provide the following:

• You will undertake casework, assisting clients to access their entitlement to welfare benefits and other sources of financial help, up to and including tribunal representation.

Since Rewilding Britain was formed in 2015 rewilding has moved from being a niche idea to playing a significant role in the fight against some of the biggest global challenges we face. We're now seeking a self-motivated Welsh Advocacy Coordinator to join our team and help steer Rewilding Britain’s policy and advocacy activities in Wales. The successful candidate will be an innovative, driven and forward-thinking individual with a proven track record of advocacy, policy or influencing work within a relevant sector. This is an exciting opportunity to join our fast growing charity and directly contribute to the growth of the rewilding movement.

Job purpose:

There's already a growing rewilding movement across Wales. Increasingly, land managers are looking for ways to incorporate rewilding into their practices, at a time the Welsh Senedd is investigating ways for Wales to meet its net zero and nature recovery commitments. Building on this, you'll help support the development and delivery of a collaborative and locally-led rewilding vision and work to ensure that it is mainstreamed within Welsh Government policy and practice.

Objective of the Role:

In collaboration with key Welsh organisations and stakeholders, develop, research and lead the delivery of evidence-based policy influencing, public affairs and campaigning activities which support the mainstreaming of rewilding into policy and practice in Wales.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating the planning and delivery of policy and influencing activities in Wales, primarily through working with and developing new partnerships in Wales
• Keeping up to date with changing policies and legislation in relation to rewilding, identifying opportunities to deliver positive change
• Developing relevant policy positions and communicating these in order to influence the Welsh policy environment
• Gathering intelligence and research, summarising evidence and communicating learning in order to develop these policy positions
• Ensuring that the connection between localism, communities, culture and rewilding is integrated into Rewilding Britain’s work in Wales

Terms and conditions and staff benefits

This is a full-time role at 35 hours per week, but we're open to applications from those looking to work 28 hours or more per week.

The salary is £38k - £45k per annum (depending on relevant experience).

There will be some freedom for the person to determine their own working arrangements each week, within limitations, providing the work is delivered.

Rewilding Britain employees benefit from 25 days annual leave per year (pro rata for part time roles), rising to 30 days over 5 years. A generous employer-matched pension scheme is also available.

We are a virtual team who work from home and/or co-working spaces. We'll support you to achieve a suitable virtual working environment. Some meetings are held face to face across Britain, so a willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays is desirable.

As the Training Programmes Manager you will have oversight and responsibility for the healthcare professional training projects and activities, as well as growing the M4RD network within HCP groups and training institutions.

You will be key to rolling out Rare Disease 101 training for healthcare professionals all over the UK and potentially abroad. While you are not expected to deliver training yourself you will be pivotal to creating opportunities and facilitating all aspects of the programme.

You will work with young people between the age of 17-25 with needs related to substance misuse, including those that are affected by their parent’s substance misuse. The purpose of the role is to engage young people in a variety of interventions, using a young person centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.

Based in the Transitions team, you will support young people with multiple risk factors and substance use. Our Complex Needs Practitioners work flexibly across the community and within our multi-agency partnership settings. The caseload will include a mixture of community and multi-agency referral pathways including health, social care, education and criminal justice.
 
A core part of the role will be working with young people and their families to address holistic support needs across all aspects of the young person’s wellbeing. This could include diverse work related to homelessness, family work, exploitation, physical and emotional health as well as substance misuse.
 
An energetic and confident self-starter, you have proven experience within health and social care, particularly working with young people and supporting them through mental ill health.

This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37 hours per week.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who cares as much as we do about getting the voices of people with learning disabilities heard and their rights accepted. This pivotal role supports and champions people with learning disabilities during pregnancy and on becoming new parents to develop good parenting skills to ensure their children receive the appropriate support they need. You will enable people to make informed choices about decisions by providing them with accurate and accessible information, including the setting up and facilitating of workshops, training, groups, and activities.

You will also provide advocacy to ensure people with learning disabilities can secure their rights and entitlements, maximise their income, deal with crisis and work to prevent it, access services and the community, and be valued as citizens.

About the person

You will have:

Advocacy 1st is a free, independent service provided by advocates who specialise in the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act.

Key duties:

· Recruiting, training and providing ongoing support to volunteers

· Working with the children and young people to assess their service requirements

· Working with stakeholders to raise awareness and recognise and identify care leavers and young people in need of the Independent Visitors and Care Leavers service

What's the role about?

For the key strategic business partnership within the dairy sector the role will visit farmer-suppliers and provide in-person habitat advice, and speak with farmers remotely (via Teams / Zoom) to understand their farming operation and provide habitat advice.

You will use this insight and experience to help inform the marketing tools and advisory programme for broader supply chain (other farms) within the partnership.

For other Fair to Nature farmers, and businesses directly linked to them, you will prepare for and complete advisory visits and follow up with applicant Fair to Nature farmers and share the benefits of Fair to Nature certification. You will advise them on how to comply with the FtN Standard and help them complete their Farm Plan.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Knowledge of land management practices that deliver nature and wider environment benefits on farmland.
• Understanding of the ecology of main farmland taxa, particularly those of conservation concern.
• Understanding of agricultural systems and how conservation management may impact on farming practice.
• Able to communicate effectively with farmers and advise them on land management for nature.
• Ability to be self-motivated and work efficiently within a defined work plan. This necessitates the ability to plan and organise their own work.
• Competent IT user (e.g. MS packages, Outlook etc).
• An ability to produce clear written communications.

• Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the NHS, health care and social care professionals to inspire and enable them to feel engaged and supported to co-create and prescribe a Nature Prescription, and to connect RSPB with the health sector to help create doors for future work.
• Engage with local healthcare professionals and community groups to co-design Nature Prescriptions materials with local people, community groups and healthcare professionals so that they reach a large diversity of people, and those that need and can benefit the most.
• Develop the project plan and ensure that the right governance structure for project management is in place and RSPB internal project management practices are followed, so that the project stays on track, comes in on budget and risks are identified, escalated, and managed within tolerances.
• Work with local environmental networks to build a picture of nature-based activities available and identify opportunities for partnership working.
• Lead on developing ways to evaluate and measure the impact of the project, including engaging with those prescribing and local communities to gather stories and case studies that demonstrate the benefits to wellbeing and connectedness to nature.
• Build internal relationships with RSPB employees and volunteers working with nature prescribing and nature and wellbeing across the UK.
• Develop a strategy and plan for Nature and Wellbeing work legacy aiming to learn from the work done in Scotland and England and from the communities and health care professionals in Cardiff and surrounds to support development of future work in Cardiff and beyond.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of working within or alongside the health and wellbeing sector.
• Project management experience with experience of leading on and developing and delivering projects with diverse communities.
