Job description

Are you enthusiastic about Youth work? Would you inspire youth to became active and express themselves through activities? Are you communicative an a good listener? Are you pro active and creative to come up with interesting and educational activites for young people? 

The Youth Project Manager is responsible for managing Paiwand’s social development and mentoring activities for young people. This includes a wide variety of activities including sports, youth club, arts and crafts activities, trips, and clubs for specific groups (i.e. girls club).



  1. Hold Activities for young people


  • Manage Paiwand’s structured social development and mentoring portfolio of activities, including sports, youth clubs, arts and crafts, trips, mentoring and others
  • Assess children, identify their needs and refer to appropriate activities
  • Oversee mentoring and one-to-one support for 20 young people each year
  • Organise and participate in one-off or regular events such as competitions, performances and inset days
  • Ensure that these activities are held on time and to high standard of quality
  • Promote these activities internally and externally to young people
  • Work with young people to develop new activities


  1. Staff and volunteer management


  • Assist with the recruitment of sessional workers and volunteers through writing job descriptions and adverts
  • Interview and induct new sessional workers and volunteers
  • Ensure that enhanced DBS checks and references are acquired for new sessional workers and volunteers
  • Provide high quality regular supervision and support to sessional workers and volunteers
  • Ensure that sessional workers and volunteers offer a high level of standard of activity to young people
  • Review training needs of sessional workers and volunteers and recommend appropriate skills development
  • Deal with other management issues including signing off expenses, organising sickness cover, etc.


  1. Working with young people


  • Ensure that young people are safe and secure at all times
  • Follow Paiwand’s safeguarding policy and procedures including risk assessment reviews
  • Ensure that young people from all backgrounds are treated equally and fairly
  • Work with the steering group of young people to review existing activities, develop new ones, and any other tasks as decided
  • Listen to the views of young people and act upon them as appropriate
  • Conduct a general annual evaluation with all young people participating in the project, as well as evaluations of individual activities


  1. Project Administration


  • Compile and advocate for the emerging needs of the projects’ beneficiaries’ (children and youth)
  • Financial management of the project
  • Record keeping: monitoring records, records of meetings and classes
  • Regular monitoring and review of classes, as well as project evaluation
  • Submit a monthly report summarising targets and activities to relevant line manager
  • Provide quarterly reports as required to senior management and trustees of Paiwand
  • Provide yearly reports and details of work carried out to project funder
  • Do fundraising either by fundraising activities or apply for available grants


  1. Professional Relations


  • Publicise project (e.g. to schools, Colleges, Leaving Care Team, other refugee organisations)
  • Work with other Paiwand staff and management to develop the organisation and take part in staff training and team meetings
  • Research further funding opportunities and liaise with current and potential funders
  • Fund raise for the project through fundraising events and Apply for small grants throughout the project
  • Liaise with other refugee organisations and refer young people to them as appropriate
  • Keep abreast of all relevant law and policy changes as they affect refugees/asylum-seekers and children, and undertake any training that may be necessary for the effective performance of these duties
  • Liaise with relevant professionals in the furtherance of the organisation’s Youth Project
