Summary of role

As Fundraising Assistant, you’ll play an important role by helping our philanthropy and grants teams to raise vital funds for our work in Ghana. You will help them with tasks like administration, research and producing fundraising materials. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills and learn about all areas of a small charity in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

What you will do

Supporting our Grants fundraising:

  • Administration of small trust relationships including preparing feedback reports and new proposals
  • Provide logistical support (travel arrangements and paperwork) for Grant funder trips to Ghana
  • Monitor and research new funding opportunities from insitutions, trusts, foundations and corporates
  • Provide support to high value bids and grant management, including helping with due diligence, risk assessments, admininstration and writing
  • Monitor and research credible external information (eg statistics, new articles, etc.) to help us write fundraising proposals and reports 
  • Review reports and evaluations of AfriKids’ work in Ghana to produce summaries and information that we can share publically to demonstrate our impact
  • Help review and action feedback from funders to continuously improve our fundraising

Supporting our Philanthropy fundraising:

  • Write briefing notes on prospects and donors in advance of meetings and events
  • Research philanthropic initiatives and prospective donors that might be able to support AfriKids
  • Prepare and format documents 
  • Help with planning and delivering events
  • Ensure we have Gift Aid declarations for eligible donations
  • Provide logistical support (travel arrangements and paperwork) for Philanthropy donor trips to Ghana
  • Support with ad hoc fundraising campaigns


  • Attend fundraising and cultivation events as and when required
  • Update and maintain donor information ensuring it is stored correctly, accurately and in line with our data protection policy
  • Help us ensure that we are compliant with fundraising quality standards and legal requirements for fundraising, including data protection and gambling law, and that we uphold the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice 
  • Support with diary management and coordinate meetings 
  • Provide administrative support for the grants and philanthropy team
