Job description

AFRUCA - Safeguarding Children is a national charity promoting the safeguarding and well-being of children in Black and Minority Ethnic communities. We are a leading charity working in the UK anti-trafficking and anti-slavery space. Our Head Office is in London with a Centre for Children and Families in Manchester.

Through our network BASNET, we aim to improve the inclusion and representation of BME communities in the UK anti-trafficking sector. The post-holder will strengthen BASNET’s role and promote opportunities for our members to collaborate and build partnerships to tackle modern slavery in BME communities.

We want to recruit a strong candidate passionate about racial equity, diversity and inclusion. You must have at least four years’ experience of working in the UK voluntary sector, preferably in the anti-trafficking sector. A sound understanding of UK modern slavery, human trafficking and exploitation would be an advantage. You must have excellent oral, report-writing and presentation skills to communicate with different audiences – from senior policy makers to grass-root organisations. We want a candidate who understands the multiple challenges faced by small BME charities and the constraints in engaging with the statutory sector. You must be a team-player, adaptable to working in a small team environment.

This position will be suitable for a candidate with a strong background in community organising and advocacy.
