Our ‘Child Protection Community Volunteering programme’ is a three year programme to encourage the Black community to help tackle the over-representation of children in the child protection and foster care systems by becoming “AFRUCA Children’s Champions”. You will work with others at AFRUCA to recruit, train and manage 60 volunteer Children’s Champions who will work in the community to train others.
This position will be suitable for a candidate with a passion for the protection and safeguarding of children, looking to build their experience in volunteer management.
Our ideal candidate will have four years’ project administration experience and a strong commitment to the protection and well-being of children. You must be a self-starter, able to work on your own initiative while delivering impressive results. You must be a very good communicator, with excellent written, oral skills. You must be an excellent organizer able to juggle many things at once. You must have a very strong understanding of the myriad of challenges faced by black children and young people across London and the implications of these for child protection and safeguarding. You must be enthusiastic, willing to learn new skills and able to take on a key role in a small but dynamic organisation.
All AFRUCA staff must undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check to confirm their suitability working for a children’s charity.
