Age UK Bexley is in a period of growth and development, and is looking for someone with skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to help us build brand identity and resilience behind our digital and information services.
Who we are
We are charity with 30 staff and 70 volunteers, specialising in support to older people in the London Borough of Bexley. The charity has undergone considerable change in the last three years, with further development likely. Older people constitute a substantial part of Bexley's population and our mix of services and support are geared toward reaching as diverse a proportion of that population as possible.
We are an organisation that has worked hard to increase the diversity of those who work for us, volunteer for us and lead us as trustees. We continue to strive to challenge any barriers in the organisation that do not make us an inclusive and diverse one, particularly for those using our services.
To make us a more representative organisation we actively encourage those from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds to consider us as a place to work and volunteer. This role is no different from any other within that context.
Information and digital development for the charity continues to be a prioirity in building brand, reaching new audiences and diversifying how people can access our services and support. Your role will be to build information and communications tools to improve audience reach and to widen the charity's use of digital technology to drive performance.
The charity also operates a volunteer-based information desk, which provides the principal information gateway into the charity’s services. You will work with the Administration and Office Systems Lead to ensure this service maintains its role at the principle point of access to the charity.
Who you are
You are someone who is enthusiastic about the contribution that older people play in creating a socially inclusive society. You will be someone who is able to think laterally about how a small charity can punch above its weight in how it uses modern media, communications and digital information tools to drive participation, acess and support
You may be a recent graduate looking for an opportunity to develop your skills and awareness of the sector and its demands.
You are a good communicator with an ability to turn over work quickly and interprete the needs of collegues who may not be as able as you in shaping ideas for a public audience.
On top of your salary, we offer a work-based pension and employers’ contribution of 6%. We also provide free access to independent counselling and a generous allowance for annual leave.
