Job Title:      Community Events and Fundraising Officer

Accountable to:    Deputy Chief Executive

Hours:      37.5 (flexible working, part time/job share will be considered)

Salary:      £30,000 to £32,000 F/T dependant on proven experience    

Based:      WIDFORD HALL

The successful individual will be enthusiastic, passionate, organised, self-motivating, personable and will have great communication skills and a proven track record of generating funds through community and corporate activities.

They will be responsible for their own budget and expected to recruit and work with volunteers to increase income.  The Community Events and Fundraising Officer will be the face of Age UK Essex in the community and so will thrive on meeting new people and presenting Age UK Essex in a professional manner to a variety of audiences.

This role is office based at Widford Hall, Chelmsford, Essex.

The Community Events and Fundraising Officer will work proactively, developing and delivering in the key areas of:

  • Individual Donors

  • Age UK Essex Events

  • Sponsored Activities

  • Community Organisations

  • Community Activity

  • Corporate Partners

  • Grant Applications

  • Local and National Events such as Older People's

  • Working with our members

The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of the Fundraising and Marketing Team to:

  • Proactively work in the community to develop relationships and secure income

  • Generate income from a variety of community sources

  • Increase donations from individuals

  • Increase donations from community groups and schools

  • Engage with older people and their families and carers to encourage fundraising within their social and professional circles

  • Develop a Age UK Essex Volunteer Fundraising Group

  • Recruit, support and motivate fundraising volunteers

  • Develop and deliver Age UK Essex fundraising events

  • Secure places in local and national fundraising events and recruit individuals to take part

  • Develop new fundraising techniques for Age UK Essex

  • Contribute to the business planning process

  • Working with the Marketing Manager, promote Age UK Essex fundraising events on our website, social media and via our newsletter

  • Keep accurate records of projects, amounts raised and donors in line with Data Protection

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and donors

  • Develop innovative ways to engage with new supporters

  • Work with and support donors and fundraisers to ensure their experience of Age UK Essex is a positive one

  • Thank donors in appropriate and engaging ways to maintain and develop relationships

  • Manage activity and events budgets and meet set financial targets

  • Work sensitively with families to engage, but not wear out, their good will

  • Raise awareness of the charity and to highlight its valuable work

  • Attend meetings with the Executive Team as and when required

  • Attend Board Meetings when necessary

  • Develop good working relationships with Age UK Essex staff and volunteer team

  • Support additional activities and other Age UK services as and when required
