About Age UK Lambeth

We support older people in Lambeth to live enriched, productive and purposeful lives: challenging the stigma of ageing, reducing social isolation and ensuring they get the right support at the right time. We are kind, person-centred and outcome-focused - finding solutions that work by listening, being flexible and including older people in delivering services.

What you’ll be doing?

It's increasingly important for older people to have the digital access, skills and confidence they need to live an included and independent life, enabling social contact, accessing information and pursuing hobbies. As our MYdigital Outreach Worker at Age UK Lambeth, this is an exciting and rewarding opportunity where you will facilitate outreach visits to drive awareness of digital inclusion in Lambeth and share your skills with clients to improve their quality of life.

  • To work with the MYdigital Project Coordinator to support work with internal and external referral routes.

  • To visit external organisations, for example, residential care homes, and promote the Digital Inclusion support service offering in a group and 1:1 setting.

  • To liaise with the Project Coordinator (and any other staff/volunteers) to identify clients who are unable or unwilling to attend community centres, but who could benefit from and are interested in digital skills support.

  • To visit older people to deliver person-centred digital skills support sessions on a 1:1 basis in their homes.

  • To ensure that all monitoring data is accurately captured and shared with the wider Age UK project team as applicable.

What you need to bring

  • Confident using different devices, including smartphones and tablets (Apple and Android), laptops, and smart speakers.

  • Knowledge of various IT packages and a wide range of popular applications.

  • Excellent teaching skills, including the ability to create impactful session plans based on the needs of the client.

  • Ability to be empathetic in a group to people’s individual needs.

  • The ability to explain the technology, and the benefits of digital in a clear and simple way.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

What you’ll benefit from

  • Flexibility - This is a part-time role with hours that can be worked flexibly.

  • Brixton based - close to good transport and vibrant town centre

  • Generous pension provision - 7% employer contribution

  • Up to 26 days holiday a year rising to 31 days after 5 years

  • A great staff culture with kindness at its heart
