Job description

Age UK Lancashire has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Finance to join our Finance team.

As a county-wide charity working with, and for older people, we believe that later life should be valued and fulfilling. Through the services and support we provide, we aim to promote independence, enhance health and well-being and enable older people to access the information they need to make informed decisions about their lives. 

As a member of the SMT (Senior Management Team), you will develop, lead and deliver the Charity’s financial strategic plan.  You will work with business development to maximise income and contribute to the achievement of the Charity’s business objectives by providing astute financial advice and guidance.

You will lead, manage and support finance staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed to proactively deliver a high quality, customer focussed timely & responsive finance function.

You will also:

  • Lead on, and deliver, financial projects and initiatives in collaboration with other senior managers to include systems development, and financial accounting processes.

  • Prepare high quality financial reports and provide insightful analysis as requested by colleagues at all levels, for instance in preparing budgetary information for projects and funding bids

  • Develop an internal audit programme to ensure that the Charity complies with financial procedures and regulations

  • Use your experience of working closely on the IT Function this role will take a leading role in helping develop a robust and cost effective IT strategy
