Job description

The Silver Line is the only free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and support to older people, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Due to an increased demand in recent months, they are looking to recruit overnight Helpline Officers to join their growing team.

Epitomising the values of The Silver Line and Age UK, the successful candidate for this post will act as the first point of contact for incoming calls from older people in need of support or just a friendly chat.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will be required to adhere to safeguarding procedures to keep callers safe from potential abuse or neglect.

This fantastic opportunity is perfect for a friendly individual with great communication skills and the ability to maintain high standards with an emphasis on empathy, patience and understanding.

Standard salary £10.20 per hour plus £2.75 per hour overnight premium (11pm-7am)

2x 28.08 hours per week on average (4 nights on, 4 nights off) 10:30pm to 7:15am
2x 28.08 hours per week on average (4 nights on, 4 nights off) 11:00pm to 7:45am

Candidates MUST be willing to travel to the Blackpool office when required.

You will have:

* Excellent interpersonal skills
* A sensitive and empathetic approach
* Good communication skills
* Basic computer skills
* The ability to adapt to a variety of situations that present within calls
* Experience of working as part of a team
* The ability to be calm under pressure
