Job Location: Cardiff

Salary: £19,300 (pro rata over contratual period)

Hours: 35 hours

Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st December 2019

Job Purpose

Would you like to join a service that makes a real difference to the lives of older people in Wales?

As an Age Cymru Information Officer you will be providing accurate, impartial and comprehensive information by telephone, email or letter to enquirers who contact Age Cymru Advice. The successful post holder will have excellent communications skills with the ability to provide accurate and friendly information in an empathic way. You will be customer focussed and committed to providing a high quality service.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you will receive extensive specialist training to offer support to older people, their carers, friends and families as well as other professionals You will help service users navigate the sometimes complex welfare benefits system, understand their rights and entitlements and access the care and support they need to live a healthy and active life.

Experience & Skills

You will be someone with:


* Excellent active listening skills
* The ability to learn and understand large amounts of complex information and legislation
* The ability to present clearly and concisely complex subject knowledge, both orally and in writing
* A reasonable level of general IT skills
* A passion to help older people have the later life they choose for themselves
* The ability and willingness to work within some time constraints
* A love of working within a warm and inclusive team environment
* A passion for providing a high quality service


The ability to speak Welsh is desirable and knowledge of the Welfare and Benefits system would be an advantage.
