The Silver Connects Service offers older people a helping hand to navigate difficult situations and to connect with organisations and services in their local area. We support people requiring a wide range of help, including accessing health and social care, housing and benefits services, and finding social clubs and events.
We are very pleased to be growing our service to provide extra support at this challenging time and as such, we are recruiting for two Volunteer Coordinators to join our valued service. The roles involve recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to assist older people by telephone, connecting them with local and national services that offer support. Volunteers may also carry out light-touch advocacy work, such as making a call on an older person's behalf to the local council, a landlord, or a utility company.
The Volunteer Coordinators will support a team of up to 20 volunteers and in some more challenging cases, may provide direct support by telephone.
As support is delivered by the service via the telephone, it has a big role to play in filling the gaps that have emerged as a result of the Covid19 pandemic.
This role will initially be working remotely, then can either continue as a home-based role or be based in our Blackpool office in the future when safe to do so.
The successful applicant will be subject to a full DBS check
* You will have experience of managing, training and supporting a team of volunteers to deliver services
* You will have experience of, and be passionate about, providing advocacy and support to vulnerable people, ideally older people, to make a difference in their lives
* You will know how to meet the challenges of delivering a service that is high quality, keeps people safe, and keeps their data secure
* You will have excellent communications skills and be proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
