Job description

Al-Khair Foundation is a UK registered charity working to deliver humanitarian and development projects worldwide. Founded in 2003, Al-Khair provides emergency aid, medical care, education and livelihood support to vulnerable communities in the UK, Africa, Asia and the Middle East and is committed to supporting these groups to become sustainable active citizens in their society. Al-Khair Foundation is a key development partner of choice for Governments, NGOs, donors and civil society in their respective countries.

Our Foundation has witnessed significant growth since we opened our doors in 2003 and our current strategic and business plans have projected even greater growth. Therefore, this is a perfect time to join our organisation.

This role sits within the Donor Services Team and will be responsible for driving Al-Khair Foundation’s brand through consistent and meaningful social media coverage to continually promote greater public awareness of the organisation and expand our digital footprint.

The key responsibilities of this role will be to acquire new customers through built online communities and social engagement; work closely with the team to ensure we are distributing content on our social media channels that is aligned with our brand vision; ensure we are creating engaging conversations across our range of social media channels; engaging and responding to customer questions/queries whilst working closely with the customer service centre; responsible for the day-to-day calendar management, planning and scheduling of posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and others; set and monitor KPIs for measuring the success, using monthly reporting to deliver results to the business across all social channels; co-ordination and oversight of Al-Khair’s social media accounts (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube); creation of dynamic new text and multimedia content that is relevant and engaging to audiences, with a clear call-to-action; develop an audience-focused approach, utilising analytics and user behaviour data to shape better content and strategies for delivery and publishing; grow new audiences and pioneer new channels and methods for engaging with existing and new users; demonstrable contribution to key business KPIs including commercial sales targets (membership and other products) through collaboration with sales and marketing colleagues, to boost the financial health of the organisation; create and nurture online communities – and a sense of community – through sharing relevant content, promoting discussion, engaging in conversations and encouraging interaction from users (especially members); shaping and sharing best practice across the organisation and a global spread of colleagues in different regional markets.

For this role you will need a degree-level qualification ideally in Marketing, PR, Journalism or related (or equivalent experience) in marketing, digital, or social media, working for either a brand or an agency; knowledge of local social media landscape and experience of using social media platforms and social media community management; understanding of how content builds a strong brand; excellent interpersonal, communication, organisation and analytical skills, with a passion for social media. The ability to remain positive in high-pressure and stressful situations; to multitask and prioritise workload, effectively work within a team environment and work on own initiative and always maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times is essential.
