Job description

It's not often that a single role can affect over a million lives. But this is one of those opportunities. Your ultimate purpose is to use knowledge, ideas and emotions to influence a multitude of stakeholders, persuading the UK Government to act, eliminating serious alcohol harm.

As our Director of Research and Public Affairs you will lead our charity to the next stage in our influencing work, motivating and mobilising our thousands of supporters, building on our partnerships and alliances and making change happen. It won't be easy, but you'll be used to that, and will know how to skilfully use the media, our fellow citizens, civil servants, members of both Houses of Westminster, and our friends in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast to extract maximum results from the UK Government.

You will also be excited about leading some of our field's most exciting and fundamental research programmes and will be adept at ensuring research findings get turned into compelling ongoing communications.

Finally, you'll be up for working for a small, mighty, dynamic and highly professional charity that's at the heart of the action. You'll love working in an environment where things move fast; where an idea you have in the morning can be brought alive for the evening news.
