The UK Sport Finance Team provides financial support and advice to the organisation. We manage UK Sport’s Lottery and Exchequer funds so that and as much as possible can be channelled to sport and to assist the organisation in achieving its objectives.  Our Management accounting team are responsible for reporting accounting information to managers within the organisation, to provide them with the basis to make informed business decisions that will allow them to be better equipped in their management and control functions.

As our Senior Management Accountant (Maternity Cover) you will lead the day to day operations of the Management Accounts Team efficiently; supporting and guiding team members to deliver an amazing financial management service to the business.

It is an exciting year to be joining us, as we commence the first year of the new Olympic cycle (leading up to the Paris Games in 2024). You will be instrumental in putting together clear financial plan templates and processes that ensure managers across the business have the tools necessary to manage their resources effectively.

You will work in partnership with budget holders, to understand the delivery of their business activities in order to provide appropriate financial advice and challenge to maximise the use of UK Sport resources.

You will provide complete, accurate and timely management information and reports to budget holders, act as a senior member of the Finance Team providing financial expertise, technical advice, support and challenge to budget holders in order to maximise the financial management of UK Sports resources and undertake targeted analysis of common spend areas across the business to identify and inform efficiency opportunities.

Your skills, interests and what you can bring

You will be a professionally qualified accountant and a member of a recognised accounting body (i.e. ACA. ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA) with demonstrable experience of working at an equivalent senior level in Management Accounting, ideally within a public sector or charity setting. Through this experience we would expect you to have gained a high level of skill in the use of spreadsheets and financial modelling and to have built strong relationships with budget holders, working in partnership with the business to achieve results. Strong communications skills and a proactive, organised approach to work will be essential.  Previous experience of managing a team would be highly desirable.
