Job description

Terrence Higgins Trust is the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity, founded in 1982 at the beginning of the global HIV and AIDS epidemic and have been at the forefront of the fight against HIV and to improve the nation’s sexual health. Our vision is a world where people with HIV live healthy lives free from prejudice and discrimination, and good sexual health is a right and reality for all.

 

In 2020, we've had to respond to the challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and adapt our strategy and plans accordingly. Our operating models, funding streams and our organisational resilience have been tested by the crisis, and our medium-term plans now reflect this new reality.

 

We are looking for an engaging and motivated finance professional to take the lead for the financial management of the organisation, managing the function operationally, strategically and in relationships with stakeholders, including directing and evolving our finance team.

 

 

The Finance Director will ensure that the charity has excellent financial management, accountability and support to all its stakeholders. You will develop the knowledge, confidence and skills of stakeholders in relation to finance at all levels of the charity and be a leader and role model to the charity through your conduct and the work of your department.

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Overall responsibility for the development and successful delivery of the Finance function and providing successful leadership across the charity;
  • Being responsible for the financial expertise, support and pragmatic guidance to the charity, up to and including the board of trustees;
  • Implementing a finance business partnering model to the wider charity, ensuring that the finance department provides advice that is technical, timely and supports the organisation’s strategic goals;
  • Be a visible leader in the charity, participating in the discussions and decisions regarding strategic changes beyond the finance department.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual. We are seeking a confident, dynamic and engaging finance professional with excellent communication skills and the confidence to operate at the highest levels. Charity experience would be an advantage. A passion for what we do and an alignment to our values is essential. This would be a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to step up to their first Finance Director position.
