The Insight and Development team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for business planning, playing a key role in the development and monitoring of a strategy for transformational income growth.  This team of experts exists to support and drive the fundraising activities of the whole organisation and is fundamental to the delivery of our ambition.

We are looking for an experienced prospect research professional to take on the role of Prospect Development Manager in our fabulous and highly ambitious team. The Prospect Development Manager leads a team which delivers prospect management and research, working across the Fundraising department to ensure high value prospect development opportunities are identified and capitalised on; this role will drive forward the continuous improvement of our prospect research activity to ensure that we are on track to reach the ambitious fundraising targets towards our dementia research portfolio.

Main tasks of role:

  • Lead on the strategic development and implementation of prospect development activity for ARUK, including an overall prospect research, management and identification plan and in support of each of ARUK’s high value income streams.
  • Inspire creativity and ambition within the Prospect Development team to ensure all avenues of prospect identification are explored and new opportunities are considered.
  • Lead a team which provides high quality research and information on existing and potential donors to further fundraising relationships. 
  • Work closely with high value team leadership, providing oversight and knowledge on prospects, relationships and processes across high value teams, adding value to their fundraising relationships and helping to maximise opportunities. 
  • Share information across the Insight and Development team to encourage and bring about joined up working with high value stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

  • Education to A-level or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles of major gift fundraising to include identification, research, solicitation and stewardship
  • Experience of leading a prospect management and research function in support of fundraising teams.
  • Experience of developing and implementing processes which drive fundraising.
  • Ability to work with independence, intelligence, drive and initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Good planning and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience using fundraising databases
  • Confidence working with computers; knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • You work well as part of a team but are proactive and can work independently.
  • A confident and friendly manner; would feel at ease representing the charity to high-level external contacts.
  • Creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to identify opportunities.

Location: Granta Park, near Cambridge.

Salary: Circa £40,000 per annum, plus benefits
