Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer.

Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure.

This is our time to make a significant impact to the outlook for people affected by dementia, and Fundraising will be at the heart of delivering this change…. are you joining our team?

The diverse and tenacious Regional Engagement team are looking for a community fundraiser who can hit the ground running and take care of our supporters in the South West Wales.

We need you to be a big thinker, curious, and resilient.

To be brave and committed to making a better world for people living with Dementia

What you can expect?

The opportunity to make a difference: You will join our Regional Engagement team to help deliver the regional budget. As a community fundraiser with us you will not be tied to a financial target, our focus is on developing incredible and long lasting relationships with our supporters. Success in your role will enable our colleagues to campaign for change, fund research to find a cure and support people living with dementia today. That really is making a difference!

Be prepared to be your own boss: This is a home working role; you absolutely must be a self starter and incredibly motivated. Prepare for a fast-paced, creative, and diverse environment where you will need to be available, resourceful and inspiring every day to give your supporters the best possible experience of raising incredible amounts. Exceptional organisational and timekeeping skills are a must.

No two conversations will ever be the same: You will need to be an excellent communicator and confident in talking to supporters over the phone and via virtual channels such as zoom. Virtual and in person presentations to businesses and various groups and associations are a regular occurrence, we will teach you what to say but confidence in presenting is definitely required. You will be the face of their Alzheimer’s Society for those fundraising in your region, you will be their biggest cheerleader, their data bank and their sounding board. Being a people person goes without saying.

A fabulous team to support you: Our team come from all backgrounds and have a wealth of experience and skill to support you. We have bankers and teachers who chose a job change working alongside graduates, previous experience as a fundraiser is not essential, although obviously it will help enormously. What is essential is the need to be a team player who will support colleagues when deadlines press and who knows when to ask for help themselves. In our team, help will always be there. We work in a ‘win-lose-learn’ culture, where we learn fast but accept that within a creative innovative and successful environment things will sometimes go wrong, but we learn from them.

The most incredible volunteers who really make the whole thing work:

We could not do the work we do without our unpaid and incredible army of volunteers. Whilst it would be great that you have experience of managing or recruiting volunteers, we can teach you to do that if you haven’t. What you do need is an appreciation of the value that our Volunteers bring to us and can include, inspire and motivate them to develop lifelong support from them

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely, all contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.

You may have experience of the following: Community Fundraiser, Fundraising, Charity, Not for Profit, Third Sector, Volunteer Management, Business Development, Legacy, Fundraiser, Volunteer Manager, Charities etc.
