Finance Officer

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

Position: Finance Officer
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 35 per week
Salary: £17,732 to £18,629 depending on skills and experience

About the role:

There are 3 Finance Officer positions available, 2 full time 35 hrs and one part time 17.5 hrs. The Finance Officers report to a Finance Team Leader and will be responsible for the accurate recording and reporting of all financial transactions across the whole Society and will be based in Plymouth.

The roles will be in the Payables and treasury/bank sections that particularly focus on:

- Raising client and contract invoices and Debt collection processes
- Dealing with Client queries
- Responsible for correct allocation of funds received in relation to fundraising groups
- Accurate and timely completion of bank reconciliations.
- Processing all types of expenditure, processing BACs payments and resolving Supplier queries
- Entering data, bank entries and journals directly onto our computerised finance system.
- Use of the HSBCnet banking system to provide banking information
- Open all post and preparing and recording daily banking

About you:

- Excellent word processing skills using MS and Excel
- Experience of book-keeping
- Demonstrably strong numeric skills and a methodical approach and strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confident approach in dealing with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders
- Demonstrable confident self-starter able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and deliver to tight timescales
- Demonstrable and consistent approach towards others in operating with confidence and integrity
