Hounslow, Middlesex
£10639 - £10905 per annum
Job description
Group Coordinator

Candidates are advised that internal applicants subject to potential redeployment may take precedence.

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. Dementia devastates lives. By 2021, 1 million people will be living with the condition. But dementia won't win. Until the day we find a cure, Alzheimer's Society will be here for anyone affected by dementia - wherever they are, whatever they're going through. Everything we do is informed and inspired by them.

Every day, we work tirelessly to find new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for dementia. We provide expert information, training, and support services to all those who need our help. And we are creating a more dementia-friendly society so people with the condition can live without fear and prejudice.

Group Coordinator Responsibilities:

This role is part of the London Borough of Hounslow team, reporting to the Dementia Connect Local Services Manager, working alongside Dementia Support Workers and supported by Volunteers. You will co-ordinate, organise and facilitate the successful and safe provision of services delivered in a group setting, including Dementia Cafés and Peer Support Groups, across the Borough.

During the current COVID19 situation all services are being delivered remotely, by telephone or video conferencing. As we emerge from this position you will be responsible for re-establishing group service delivery across the Borough, with a strong emphasis on community outreach and engagement.

Group Coordinator Requirements:

This is a very rewarding front line role that makes a real difference to the lives of people living with dementia. Working across a diverse and vibrant community you will have the ability to communicate well with a wide variety of people and adapt to different settings.

You will need to demonstrate an understanding of dementia and the impact that it has on people’s lives. You will need to be confident of working independently, facilitating groups of people in community settings and managing volunteers. Experience of supporting similar groups, leading and co-ordinating person centred engagement and activities, is highly desirable. The ability to travel independently within the Borough is essential.

About Alzheimer’s Society:

Alzheimer’s Society embraces diversity, inclusion and accessibility for all of our people. We are committed to building a diverse organisation that represents the communities we serve and ensuring inclusion in everything we do.

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely. All contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.
