Job description
Research Communications Manager

The Research Communications Manager will lead on developing and delivering a communications strategy to promote the research activity of Alzheimer’s Society to a wide range of lay and professional audiences including donors, influencing audiences and the research community among others. Leading a busy research communications team, you will use your understanding of biomedical science and a keen eye for a good story to develop a sustained presence of strong research content across all our communications channels targeting our priority audiences

Research Communications Manager Responsibilities:

You will develop and maintain key messages and communications plans to ensure that research is well represented in the organisational strategic communications. Many of our research programmes are delivered in partnership, and a key part of the role is to be able to work collaboratively both internally and externally to ensure joint communications deliver a strong message for Alzheimer’s Society.

You will work closely with our research, fundraising and influencing teams to support communications that will help the organisation to achieve its research strategy aims, drive donations and to achieve our research influencing priorities. This will include using owned and external communications channels as well as the media. With media training you will act as a spokesperson on research topics in print and broadcast interviews and will support the research communications teams to respond to media requests.

Research Communications Manager Requirements:

We’re looking for someone uniquely skilled in understanding complex science and working across a wide range of stakeholders to deliver strategic, impactful communications for our different audiences that ultimately will help the organisation to achieve its strategic aims. You will be experienced in leading and supporting others to bring the best out of a high-performing team.
