Support Worker

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. 

Position: Dementia Support Worker 
Location: Leicester County, Leicester City, and Leicester Hospitals. 
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 35 per week 
Salary: £20,345 actual per annum

About the role: 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an integrated dementia support service covering Leicester City, Leicestershire and our hospitals. As a Dementia Support Worker, you will provide essential information, support and guidance to people living with dementia, their families and carers using a variety of methods, either face-to-face, over the phone or via email. 

You will be working within a small team, covering Leicester City, Leicestershire County and University Hospitals Leicester, but your main office base will be in Leicester Forest East. 

About you: 

Excellent communication skills are a must, you will also need to possess an NVQ level 3 (or equivalent). 

This role involves regular use of IT packages; therefore, a good standard of IT would be desirable. 

Your caseload will be varied so we are looking for someone with the right mix of enthusiasm, professionalism and flexibility who is able and willing to work in a variety of settings. 

You will be responsible for your own caseload, so your ability to manage your own time effectively will be essential. If you have a passion for supporting people affected by dementia and want to be involved in the shaping and delivery of this new service, then we would love to hear from you.
