Financial Rights Advisor – Welfare Rights (South Region)
Salary: £29,000 per annum
Location: Home Based; preferably Kent, Surrey or Sussex with travel 2-3 per week
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What you’ll be doing:
This is an opportunity to join a busy and dynamic team, offering welfare rights advice and fronting Anchor Hanover’s suite of Be Wise services to both customers and colleagues, as we roll out a fully national team. We are seeking to appoint a Financial Rights Advisor (Welfare Rights), to join our expanding Money Wise team.
You will be providing a service advising customers on their benefit entitlement, assisting with benefit queries and problems and completing application forms, both through a telephone help line and personal visits.
Ensuring that people know and get what they are entitled to is vital, so you will lead on communications and briefings on benefits to operational colleagues, and coordinate road shows, training events and other initiatives aimed at widening access to benefits.
Financial Rights Advisors are regionally based and we have a vacancy in the South team. There is a requirement for travel as part of the role and you can expect to be on one of our housing estates 2-3 times a week.
Advisors are home based and your home location should reflect your ability to travel around the South region to deliver Be Wise events, training and attend meetings. For this post, you would ideally be based in Kent, Surrey or Sussex.
- Provide advice in line with agreed procedures and guidance using the tools provided
- Deliver training on welfare benefits
- Maintain a good understanding of welfare benefits and how to maximise the income of customers and colleagues
- Construct cases to challenge decisions regarding eligibility for welfare benefits, with specialist support where required
Who we need:
To succeed, you will need knowledge of the benefits system, particularly as it affects older people and direct experience of providing welfare benefits advice. Coming from a customer service focussed environment, you must be an articulate communicator with a can-do attitude and persuasive presentation skills.
We need people who share our values, people who are friendly, customer focused and have the ability to work with a wide range of people. The role also requires independence and innovation. Being computer literate, willing to travel nationally and stay away overnight as required is essential as is a full driving licence.
