About this role:
As Process Improvement Specialist, you will:

• work closely with colleagues across the organisation to identify and implement process efficiency and automation opportunities, from start to finish,
• develop and maintain process documentation, such as procedures, process maps and guides,
• regularly analyse data to understand the effectiveness of processes across the organisation, paying close attention to detail at all times,
• complete process mapping and reviews in order to maximise efficiency, coming up with solutions to complex problems swiftly.

About you:
To be successful in this role you should be truly process driven, with experience of implementing new processes and streamlining existing ones, with a knack for understanding a problem, analysing, and then fixing it. You’ll need to be a people person, as you’ll be business partnering colleagues and ‘meeting them where they are’, as they map out their processes and identify areas for improvement. You’ll need to be very detail orientated, and it would be beneficial if you have some Six Sigma certification to support your experience in process improvement. Additionally, you’ll need a commitment to the aims and objectives of Dogs Trust.

About this team:
Under the leadership of the Chief Operating Officer, the Finance, IT, Governance and Risk, Efficiency and Sustainability, Facilities and Legal teams provide professional business advice and central support to Dogs Trust. These traditionally ‘back-office’ teams work closely with the rest of Dogs Trust to enable them to work more efficiently and effectively to deliver our mission. Current turnover is in excess of £110m and is still growing and staffing levels are approaching 1,500 FTE. The Efficiency and Sustainability function is being introduced as a new department in a response to the growing need to work in a more cost effective, sustainable and strategically commercial way.

Position Summary

We are in search of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) adept at turning strategic visions into operational realities. The COO will oversee daily operations throughout the sanctuary, ensuring excellence in health and safety practices, and fostering high team performance and growth. As a key partner to the CEO, this role demands a leader skilled in operational management and strategy implementation, preferably with experience in the third sector and a deep commitment to animal welfare.

Objectives of the role

1. Strategic implementation and operational leadership - working in close partnership with the CEO to integrate strategic objectives into the organisation's day-to-day operations. This will include focusing on enhancing process efficiency, ensuring operational excellence and maintaining budgetary control connected to operational issues.

2. Developing high performing teams – driving team excellence through targeted recruitment, comprehensive onboarding, ongoing professional development, and robust performance management strategies, ensuring team cohesion and high retention rates

3. Ensuring regulatory compliance and safety - maintaining rigorous adherence to all relevant charity and health & safety regulations, proactively ensuring a safe environment for staff, volunteers, visitors and our equines.

4. Fostering a supportive culture - creating a work environment where commitment to our sanctuary's values and alignment with our vision and mission inspire and unite our teams.

5. Acting as a deputy for the CEO - representing the charity and making decisions in the CEO’s absence, ensuring leadership continuity and organisational stability.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

· Evaluating internal operations to identify and implement efficiency improvements

· Developing and implementing policies (in collaboration with the CEO and Trustees) that support the sanctuary's goals and ensure operational alignment.

· Overseeing daily operations across the estate, including visitor facilities, barn and paddock maintenance, and health and safety compliance, ensuring a safe environment for staff, volunteers, visitors and equines.

· Directly overseeing the performance of our teams in Visitor Experience, Volunteering, Estates and Facilities, ensuring these areas not only operate efficiently but also focus on creating exceptional experiences for visitors and volunteers. This includes working closely with HR to foster successful recruitment, professional development, and other HR initiatives to build and sustain high-performing teams.

· Ensuring the sanctuary is ready and welcoming for visitors each day, effectively monitored and managed throughout the day and securely closed at night

· Health and safety leadership - spearheading safety initiatives and training a skilled team in safety protocols, ensuring a secure and safe environment for staff, volunteers, visitors and over 130 donkeys and ponies. The COO will work closely with the Head of Facilities and Estates Supervisor to enforce health and safety policies, address safety issues, as well as ensuring readiness and responsiveness for critical incidents, including fire and medical emergencies.

· Serving as the deputy for the CEO, including leading the sanctuary in the CEO’s absence, making critical decisions, and managing external relationships.

The above role encompasses an understanding that the sanctuary operates seven days a week and requires a willingness to work weekends and evenings as needed to ensure continuous leadership and operational excellence.

Reporting structure

Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will have the following direct reports: Head of Estates, Visitor Experience Manager, and Volunteer Manager.

Required skills and Experience

· A strong ethical commitment to animal welfare, demonstrated through previous work or personal advocacy, with the desire to make a positive impact in the community and beyond.

· A track record of managing operations effectively, demonstrating the ability to oversee day-to-day activities

· Proven experience in translating strategy into actionable plans

· Proven effectiveness in managing diverse teams and working with volunteers, highlighting the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of contributors towards common goals.

· Experience in budgeting, data analysis and using performance metrics to guide decisions.

· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and the agility to respond to unforeseen challenges, particularly in animal welfare contexts.

· A collaborative approach to working with key stakeholders, including the CEO, to ensure alignment with the organisation's goals.

Desirable:

· Experience within a non-profit organisation and familiarity with the regulatory environment specific to the charity sector, including health & safety standards and compliance.

We are looking for an experienced Administration Officer to work in a busy rural office. The successful post holder will be based at our offices in East Lulworth, Dorset, with some opportunity for home working. They will provide day to day support of administration and management of the office and facilities. The post holder will also support Health and Safety, contract management and events reporting to the Head of Administration.

You will need to have previous experience working in administration within a busy team. You will be skilled in using all Office applications as well as being able to prioritise your work load when supporting and responding to queries from staff, members and volunteers via email, telephone and MS Teams.

Programmes & Grants Officer

About Us:

On the Edge (OtE) is a London-based charity on a mission to emotionally reconnect people with nature through smart, entertaining, social-media-based storytelling. We are especially interested in reaching young people who do not engage with traditional nature content. By fostering a reconnection with the natural world, our stories aim to create advocates for its protection and restoration. On the Edge is also a science-based, grant-giving organisation that funds conservation projects around the world.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a programmes officer or manager with at least 1 years’ experience in conservation grant making. This role will facilitate the management of all conservation and storytelling grants awarded, as well as managing relationships, grant proposal development, budgets and impact measuring. This role will provide some opportunity to travel as part of our capacity building training programmes.

This is an exciting time for OtE as we have just launched a new grant approach. Our in-house programme will be the first of its kind and will rapidly increase conservation attention towards EDGE species and zones. The programmes officer/manager will play a key role in the development and expansion of this grant approach.

Responsibilities:

• Contributes to the development and implementation of the grant programme’s strategy

• Supports the development and management of our grant portfolio, including researching new granting opportunities in line with the strategic directions (especially grassroots and national level actors), scoping and developing proposals with prospective grantees.

• Supports grantees through our funding model which may include coordinated activities with grantees and capacity building, developing systems for and overseeing grantee reporting, and conducts the monitoring and evaluation of grants against our impact framework, which may include site visits.

• Contributes to the setting of program budgets, allocation of funds, and supports the COO in financial reporting.

• Represents OtE in a variety of settings, including among peer groups and at public events.

• Contributes to supporting activities, relationships and networking with the conservation and philanthropic sectors, developing trust and collaboration and identifying aligned goals, helping to shape and align priorities in the grant-making sector.

• Keeps up to date with mapping and assessment of NGO impacts and donor grant-making in our target areas to ensure our grant-making adds value, including identifying barriers to success and gaps in the field or funding.

Qualifications and Experience required

• A university degree in a field relevant to conservation or science. A post-graduate degree would be an asset but is not essential.

• At least 1 years in of one or more of the following: biodiversity conservation, grant-making and the philanthropic sector, conservation communications/education.

• Experience in designing, leading and implementing successful projects with partners

• Experience in planning, strategy development and delivery would be an advantage

• Experience of budgetary and financial management is essential.

• Excellent research, analytical and writing skills, including in risk assessment, evaluation of potential projects and organisational success.

• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, networking skills, project and people management experience and able to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures

• Strong computer skills

• Fluency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset

• Highly organised and able to develop organisational systems as and when needed, able to track and work to multiple deadlines

We are recruiting a PR and Media Lead who shares our compassion and commitment for animal welfare. This is a key role within the marketing and communications team which will lead on Mayhew’s PR activity and presence in the media. You will work with the Head of Engagement to deliver a considered and an exciting PR strategy for the organisation, that focuses on reaching new audiences, positioning Mayhew as a thought leader in the sector and ultimately, helping many more dogs and cats both in London and overseas.

This role would be ideal for a highly organised, motivated and creative individual who is comfortable working on integrated communications and PR campaigns and working with stakeholders from across the organisation to find the story. You’ll be curious, always looking for new and inventive ways to shout about Mayhew and grow our audience. You’ll be detail orientated and strong on prioritisation, comfortable managing multiple projects at once. As the first port of call for press, you’ll act as one of Mayhew’s key external voices and play a central role in shaping our key messages.

To be successful in this role, you need relevant experience:

• Working in a PR or media role in an organisation of comparable breadth and scope, with proven success delivering an effective PR strategy
• Working with colleagues in fundraising and marketing to deliver integrated campaigns that raise the profile of the organisation and support fundraising efforts
• Managing an organisational approach to reputational risk and crisis communications
• Assessing the impact and value of PR and media work in support of organisational goals

The successful candidate will be a full-time, permanent member of the International Fundraising and Marketing team and will be based in Mai Khao, Phuket, Thailand. This role reports directly to the International Chief Executive Officer. 

Job Summary 

• Serve as an integral member of Soi Dog’s Senior Leadership Team, actively participating in leadership duties, and contributing to the charity’s strategic and budget planning.
• Lead the creation, implementation, and management of the strategy and associated plans for International Fundraising, Marketing, and Communications, including active day-to-day involvement in all activity.
• Manage and lead the International Fundraising and Marketing teams, ensuring they meet predefined objectives and targets.

Duties and Responsibilities  

Provides leadership for all international fundraising, marketing and communications strategy and plans by:

Planning and Management:

• Provide strong leadership and direct line management to the International Fundraising and Marketing team to sustain, develop and grow fundraising, marketing and other initiatives to maximise income and build engagement and brand loyalty from new and existing supporters.
• Develop and manage the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications strategy and associated plans to meet ambitious targets.
• Prepare and present reports on progress, income and expenditure to the International CEO and the International Board.
• Be aware of current legislations, technologies and trends that will benefit the charity.
• Close monitoring of international fundraising income across all sources, and managing the international fundraising and marketing departmental budgets.
• Procure and manage external suppliers and third parties.
• Ongoing risk management and mitigation, escalating risks to the International CEO where appropriate.

Brand and Marketing:

• Develop and lead on the marketing and communications strategies to expand Soi Dog’s reach and increase global awareness and engagement amongst our target audiences with a multi-channel approach.
• Ensure consistency in messaging and brand across all content including social media, digital and press releases.
• Continue to develop the strategy to proactively secure international press and PR opportunities to build brand awareness.
• Co-ordinate an integrated cross-departmental approach with Visual Creative Director and other teams including, Adoptions, Thai Fundraising and external contractors.

Fundraising:

• Lead the development of strategic plans and initiatives, in collaboration with the Senior Management Team and colleagues, to generate additional revenue streams, and grow existing, for the charity.
• Continuously review and seek new major giving opportunities across philanthropy, Trusts and Foundations and corporate partnerships.
• Ensure the team submits robust and timely applications for grants, and provide excellent ongoing stewardship including thanking and impact reports.
• Execute innovative and creative targeted digital fundraising campaigns across various social media platforms to drive donations.
• Oversee all fundraising activity and be the point of sign off for all communications and outgoing campaigns.
• Cultivate existing relationships with long-standing supporters to maintain stability in regular giving.
• Expand networks and maintaining regular communication with philanthropists, major gift donors, and prospects to establish strong relationships and negotiate ongoing opportunities for support and partnerships.
• Manage relationships with external agencies and contractors to optimise return on investment.
• Ensure accurate and timely income projections and reports, fostering a culture of performance and ambition.
• Keep up to date and comply with current Fundraising legislation and standards of each country and/or regions.

Skills and Requirements 

• Proven experience in a senior fundraising and marketing role, with a track record of meeting substantial targets and managing multi-million-dollar income and expenditure budgets.
• Outstanding and demonstrable track record of developing and successfully implementing fundraising strategies across a broad range of income streams.
• Excellent understanding and working knowledge of marketing and communication strategy and implementation.
• Substantial experience of developing individual giving and philanthropy programmes, specifically through digital channels, to drive growth, engagement and long-term value.
• Extensive networking and relationship-building skills.
• Strategic, proactive and ambitious thinker with the ability to motivate and inspire teams, lead on initiatives and engage and build loyalty with stakeholders and supporters.
• Experience in managing change at a strategic and operational level.
• Well-developed influencing, negotiation and inter-personal skills. 
• Strong written and oral communication skills and comfort working in a high-energy, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
• Strong line management and leadership skills, with an ability to successfully matrix manage and a proven track record of developing team members.
• Excellent native or fluent communication skills in English (written and oral) and a confident, professional and friendly demeanor.

Working Hours and Location 

• This is a full-time, permanent position based in Mai Khao, Phuket, Thailand.
• 40 hours, five days a week - office based at the Gill Dalley Sanctuary.
• You must be willing to work flexibly across multiple time zones when required.

• Financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
