Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our busy events team as an enthusiastic Challenge Events Officer. You will join us on a permanent basis working 35 hours per week and in return, you’ll receive a competitive salary starting at £30,781.96 per annum, plus excellent benefits.

Please note, the ideal candidate for this role should be located within a reasonable distance of our National Cat Centre in East Sussex and ideally be based there at least once a week, however we are open to flexibility around this for the right candidate.

Since 1927, Cats Protection has helped thousands of cats each year, across the UK. As a community of volunteers, employees, supporters and partners, we’ve improved the lives of millions of cats and transformed the way millions of people see and care for cats.

Cats Protection has ambitious plans for growing our challenge events over the coming years and this role is essential to help support this growth and development. You will work within a passionate and motivated team to develop and deliver our challenge event portfolio and steward our event participants to meet their fundraising and personal challenge goals.

Responsibilities of our Challenge Events Officer:

As our Challenge Events Officer, you will lead on and develop a portfolio of events and an innovative product pipeline to acquire, convert and retain engaged supporters through excellent supporter stewardship, contributing to both the Community & Event team and Income Generation department objectives. This role relates specifically to individuals and teams participating in third party and/or hosted challenge events.

You will grow sustainable net income through the daily management and development of our challenge events programme, working in collaboration with other members of the Community & Events team, income generation teams and wider internal and external stakeholders.

You will develop and produce supporter materials and provide exemplary bespoke support to all event participants.

What we’re looking for in our Challenge Events Officer:

  • experience of supporter stewardship within a fundraising and/or events capacity
  • experience of copy writing, asset management and gathering compliant case studies from supporters
  • proven track record of achieving income and acquisition/conversion and retention growth against agreed targets
  • knowledge of using digital channels to steward and communicate with supporters including email, online relevant channels, social media, SMS and mobile
  • excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work agilely, meet deadlines and make decisions under pressure
  • target driven with excellent numeracy skills and ability to analyse data to report on performance
  • an understanding of compliance within events fundraising

What we can offer you:

  • salary of £30,781.96 per annum
  • 25 days annual leave (pro-rated from your start date), increasing by one day for each completed year of employment up to an additional maximum of five days
  • flexible working hours
  • contribution pension scheme with an option for pension salary exchange
  • life assurance scheme
  • access to a range of health benefits
  • employee assistance programme

Through our values and behaviours we help people see the world through cats’ eyes. Together we can make a difference.

Join us as our Challenge Events Officer and know you are helping to make a real difference to cats and kittens across the UK!
