Aquarius is part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence. We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. But we also know that if we provide the right support, at the right time, we can inspire recovery nationwide and that recovery is possible for everyone.

Based in Edgbaston, Aquarius is a charity that helps people and communities overcome the harm caused by alcohol, drugs and gambling. This particular role involves working at Evolve in Brindley Place, Birmingham and also at the Adam and Eve in nearby Digbeth. Evolve is a café and social enterprise run by young people who have experienced substance misuse or mental health problems, homelessness, have been out of work for three months or have a history of offending.

This particular role is all about providing excellent customer service and assisting with the preparation, cooking and service of a variety of food and drink items in line with health and safety. We’ll also rely on you help ensure the smooth running and day-to-day management of the coffee shops and, in the absence of supervisor, stand in as lone supervisor when needed in either store. And, when it comes to delegating tasks to staff, monitoring absence/lateness or reporting any incidents in line with our policies and procedures, again, we’ll count on you.

To succeed, you’ll need some experience in a café and barista setting, including cash handling, a professional and presentable appearance and the ability to work well as part of a team. We’ll also be looking for excellent timekeeping, attentiveness, plus the ability to multi-task. Comfortable following instructions and working within policy and procedural requirements, you have lots of initiative, great communication skills and are keen to learn and develop.

This is a fixed term role for six months, requiring the post-holder to work 37 hours a week.

The salary for this role is £17,550.00 with potential progression up to £18,278.00 per annum.
