Community Fundraising and Administration Officer 

ARC is a small national charity providing specialised non-directive information and support to expectant parents around testing in pregnancy.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of our community fundraising activity in our 30th Anniversary year to maximize our unrestricted income and motivate our supporters to take part. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with the right skills and qualities to fill this key role, able to work in a small team and keen to make an impact.

The Role

We have an important job to do and funding for our activities like our national helpline, volunteer network and training for healthcare professionals is essential. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and developing community fundraising in order to ensure sustainability of these and other activities.  In our 30th Anniversary year, we want to increase our community fundraising income and reinvigorate our supporters.

The post is full-time and based in our central London office.

Main responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinating community fundraising and maximising its potential – this includes encouraging and supporting individual and team fundraising activities.
  • Collaborating with ARC’s marketing and fundraising co-ordinator on developing fundraising packs and resources on the ARC website.
  • Managing the ARC contact database (eTapestry).
  • Collaboration on editing and co-ordinating the distribution of the ARC Newsletter
  • To be first point of contact on the ARC administration telephone line
  • To share in the organisation of regular and one-off external events:  Annual General Meetings, conferences etc.
  • To undertake other tasks as specified by the Director and Trustees.

Reporting to:  the ARC Director.  All staff are ultimately accountable to the Trustees and any sub-committees the Trustees may elect.

Terms and conditions

Maternity cover - one-year contract

Hours: full-time 35 hours per week in our central London office

Salary: £26 – 29,000 p.a. depending on experience

Holiday: 30 days per annum

7% pension contribution

Time off in lieu is offered for any overtime worked.

Person specification

The successful candidate will need to be able to evidence:

  • Community fundraising experience – in a paid or voluntary capacity
  • Good administrative skills and computer literacy
  • Experience of effective use of a contact database 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with a  wide variety of people and to handle distressed callers with sensitivity
  • Excellent organisational skills including the ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to show initiative and a positive and flexible approach to work
  • Experience of successful working as part of a small team
  • Experience of web content management systems
