Poole Arts Trust Ltd is the charity responsible for managing Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts, a leading, nationally recognised world-class venue rooted in its community, where anyone can come and enjoy the arts.
As the largest Arts Centre outside of the Capital, the venue is home to a diverse range of live art genres in its programme by local, global and emerging artists. It presents c.560 performances and 600 film screenings each year of Theatre, Music, Dance, Film, Contemporary Circus, Comedy and Light Entertainment. There are opportunities for people of all ages and abilities across the Dorset region to engage and participate and support for new talent to perform in this iconic building.
Lighthouse is the home of the internationally acclaimed Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. We receive public funding from BCP Council and from Arts Council England – as a National Portfolio Organisation.
We are seeking new board members to support the senior management to drive our continuing success and fulfil our ambitions for the future. You will help to shape overall strategy, ensure the quality and compliance of our governance and trading activities and provide invaluable independent guidance and judgment to help us realise our vision.
Joining an experienced board, new Trustees will have substantial senior-level experience and expertise and will be able to work at a strategic level alongside Lighthouse staff.
Whilst we welcome expressions of interest from all candidates, we are particularly keen to hear from applicants with the following knowledge and experience:
- Strategic commercial / facilities management
- FE/HE Education
Trustees are a non-executive voluntary role and a minimum term of three years’ commitment is required. Trustees serve as non-executive directors for one or two terms and time is given voluntarily. Meetings take place five times a year plus an annual away day. Trustees will also be asked to become a member of a small subcommittee that focuses on a particular subject or area.
We aim to have a wide range of people on the Board and seek to be representative of the diverse population and community of the South West. Previous board experience is preferable but not essential.
