Job description

Ascension Trust Beacon Project is an initiative that seeks to engage and empower communities and vulnerable groups to lead healthier lives. By working alongside communities, their families, and peers, as well as the places where they live, frequent and spend their time, we aim to create safe spaces (Beacon Hubs) and access to trusted voices on matters concerning their health and wellbeing not just for some – but for everyone.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated mental health and wellbeing outreach worker to work with the Lambeth Public Health Team.

This is an exciting role that will support the delivery of holistic and whole system approach interventions at neighbourhood level to promote better mental health and wellbeing and contribute to reduce health inequalities in Lambeth.

The postholder will engage in conversations with residents and communities to provide mental health prevention and wellbeing advice to local communities using evidence based motivational interviewing techniques. A proactive approach is required with the postholder going to where communities are, particularly those that are at greater risk of poor mental health and wellbeing.

Approaches could include being part of the Lambeth Health and Wellbeing Bus outreach team, participation in existing community events or collaborating with different stakeholders including the voluntary and community sector to deliver specific events or sessions.
