This is a fantastic opportunity to join our fledgling Fundraising Team and develop a trust fundraising programme from the ground up.  We are looking for someone with experience in raising funds from trusts and foundations, who is an excellent communicator - spoken and written – and who can undertake research to effectively identify appropriate prospects.  You will help to develop our case for support and develop a suite of proposals and reports that will convey to funders what Parentkind does, what the parents and schools we work with want, and how we support them.  Attention to detail is key, as is the ability to manage your time and prioritise your work.

Marketing & Recruitment Officer

Role Summary:

The Teacher Development Trust are seeking an energetic, curious and highly organised Marketing & Recruitment Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for education and the important work of teachers and schools. They will  play a pivotal role in increasing our reach and impact by promoting our offers to schools, trusts and other education sector organisations, generating leads and supporting school engagement by executing effective marketing strategies.

Particular to the Marketing and Recruitment Officer, guided by  by the School Engagement Manager:

• To contribute to the creation of strategic marketing plans to promote Teacher Development Trust's services.  Helping to shape activity to provide a better understanding of the efficacy and reach of our products and services and ensuring that information and data are shared effectively across the organisation.

• To utilise various marketing channels including digital platforms, social media, website and traditional marketing methods including email and newsletters, to reach target audiences.  You will collaborate with the team to create and distribute compelling content, promotional materials and campaigns.

• To stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities and emerging opportunities and share this information as appropriate across the organisation to put TDT in the best position to respond in the advancement of our charitable aims and objectives.

• To support the planning and organisation of events such as workshops, webinars and conferences to showcase Teacher Development Trust's offerings and coordinate TDT presence at external events.  This will include representing the organisation at events to network and promote our services.

• To work closely with the internal teams, including the content development and participant experience teams, to ensure seamless service delivery, satisfaction, retention and brand loyalty.  You will also collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to explore potential synergies and business opportunities.

• To support the wider interaction between the organisation and the sector, in particular supporting carefully planned and considered marketing and communications activity as well as responding to emerging news stories and other agendas.  Where appropriate this may include working with journalists and other key sector influencers.

Experience, qualities and skills:

• Proven experience in marketing roles either within the education sector or elsewhere.

• Knowledge of the current educational landscape, including an understanding of professional development or a genuine interest in developing that knowledge.

• An active interest in continuously developing both generalist and technical marketing expertise.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present information clearly, striking the correct tone with a range of internal and external audiences.

40% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard - many of these children fall behind with reading simply because they lack the opportunity to practise.

Chapter One is a small but growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3,300 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

This role is an exciting opportunity for someone to contribute to the work of our fast-growing charity. You will work as part of the Chapter One Support Team, ensuring that volunteers have everything that they need to make a success of their reading sessions with pupils. You will be the first point of contact for our volunteers, so excellent customer service skills and a genuine interest in helping others is essential.

Reporting to the Performance and Data Manager, you will work for 25-30 hours a week (Monday to Friday) and will need to be available for an 09:30 am start each morning. You will work remotely and will need to have access to a reliable internet connection. The start date for this role is 1st July 2024.

This role is ideal for someone home-based who wishes to work part-time in a fast-paced and varied administrative role.

The Opportunity

This role sits within our Evaluation unit in our Impact Partnerships team, who work with education organisations such as charities, universities and education technology companies (our ‘impact partners’). Our work focuses on helping these organisations to design and deliver evaluations, and to build their capacity for impact evaluation.

We are looking for a candidate who can support the team internally with a variety of delivery and administrative processes, working directly with our schools and partners to support their evaluation journey. This will include supporting new schools through their onboarding and data collection processes and monitoring their usage of our digital platform, the School Impact Platform.  You will also be responsible for liaising with schools to schedule focus groups with teachers and pupils and organise these events accordingly, and supporting colleagues with facilitating data collection and analysis, which will include reporting processes and creating surveys which form part of our evaluation work with schools.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to apply for our new professional development pathway, launching this summer. On this two-year scheme, a small cohort will rotate between our practices, gaining wider experience within strategy, evaluation and operational development within the education and social enterprise space.

About You

We are looking for some of the following attributes, though you might be more experienced in some areas than others, and open to a range of backgrounds:

• Understanding and experience of the UK education system

• Experience of quantitative and qualitative data analysis (using Excel is preferred, and this doesn’t need to be highly advanced) and report writing
