The Role

Every four hours, someone is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. The organisation is a national charity providing practical help to all who are affected and the Housing Advice service is at the heart of the support provided.

Many of those who are injured will face housing issues; forced into care homes, making do in inappropriate accommodation, not knowing where to turn for information on adaptations. We are looking for someone with experience of the housing sector and case work who can use their knowledge to offer telephone-based advice and support to those who need it. Working in a small team, you'll be comfortable negotiating with local authorities, helping client’s complete paperwork and talking people through the complex housing issues they face. An ability to empathise with clients and be tenacious on their behalf is essential.

In return, you will be part of a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the many people that come to the charity for help.

About You

As Housing Officer you will have detailed knowledge of the Housing sector and previous experience providing housing advice and case work support.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work without direct supervision, managing conflicting workloads. You will have strong negotiation skills and good IT and admin skills.

Please ensure you include a cover letter detailing how you meet the requirements in the person specification with your application.
