Job Description

Research Manager (Operations and Partnerships)

London E1 (Aldgate)

£40,000 (would consider more for an exceptional candidate) | 35 hours per week

  • Have you in depth experience of funding medical research and involving patients and the public in research?
  • Do you want to take the next step in your research management career and gain experience across a wide range of research activities?
  • Can you help us to support the best research in order to improve the lives of people with asthma?

What we do at Asthma UK really matters. We have a great track record in funding high quality research and in brokering new patient-centred collaborations both here and overseas that are paving the way for the development of new treatments that could transform the lives of people with asthma. Through this role, you’ll have a unique opportunity to make a real difference on a massive scale for the one in five households affected by asthma.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a good understanding of research management and research administration processes at a senior level.
  • Is passionate about putting the patient perspective and needs, at the centre of the research process,
  • Has a proactive, outgoing, flexible and dynamic approach.
  • Is at ease working with a wide range of individuals from different backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Is ambitious and wants to work for an organisation that is working hard to prevent asthma attacks and find a cure for one of the UK’s most prevalent long-term health conditions.

If this sounds like you and you want to bring your insight, knowledge and passion into an environment where it will make a real difference, namely stopping asthma attacks and curing asthma, this is the role for you.

We are committed to supplying the best possible experience to those who can benefit from our support, then translating this experience into financial support so we can continue to save lives. Our board and senior team are externally recognised for their commitment to digital innovation in achieving our mission.

What the role involves:

  • Managing the delivery of our various research and innovation funding schemes to the highest levels of research governance in order to maintain the charity’s position as a well-respected asthma research funder.
  • Supporting world-class asthma research and innovation beyond Asthma UK’s own funded programmes by overseeing our growing and varied portfolio of research partnerships.
  • Facilitating patient and public involvement on the wide range of research activities in which Asthma UK is involved.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the organisation in order to maximise the impact of the charity’s research funding and activities
