Job description

Ataxia UK is the national charity for people affected by ataxia. We support individuals with the condition, their families, carers and friends.  Ataxia UK is led by people affected by ataxia. We fund research into treatments and cures for the ataxias, whilst providing support services to those with the condition, their carers, families and friends.

We are a people lead organisation, facilitating our staff to use their own creativity to find innovative solutions. We offer flexible working hours, and a collaborative staff team that are open to implement change.

The InControl Project is aimed at tackling isolation and loneliness in the ataxia community in England through volunteering and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. We are offering the role initially on a 6-8-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

You will work with the InControl Community Programme Manager and other staff and volunteers in setting up, administering and delivering the Project, including social media platforms, meetings, and virtual seminars. You will attend and speak at meetings, write reports, record and collate information. You will be the first point of call for volunteers, and support them through their induction and volunteering. Currently, our staff are all based at home due to the pandemic so you may be asked to do this as well until we plan to move back to the office.

To apply, simply send a CV and covering letter (no longer than 2 sides), explaining why you are applying for the role and how your skills and experience align with the job description. Please send to James Atkins, InControl Community Programme Manager, on the email in the job description. Closing date of applications is Friday 28th August. Interviews are provisionally scheduled for early/mid-September.
