Job description

We need you to offer direct support to young people who may have mental ill health or be experiencing a deterioration to try and prevent any further downward spiral; and ultimately prevent hospitalisation or homelessness as a result. The young people have varying degrees of problems from low level anxiety and depression through to diagnosed and treated psychological conditions. All are vulnerable and need maximum support to keep them safe from others and themselves. Whilst our primary purpose is to tackle homelessness the mental well being is core to that being a success.

The role is an assertive outreach model, with a caseload assisting young people to navigate some of the statutory services, accompany them into appointments, signpost to appropriate agencies and offer talking therapies. You will work within a  team of specialists around mental health, care leavers, CSE and  domestic abuse to provide additional support to young people living in any of the Backup services.
