Tonic - Communications & Marketing Manager Salary - £35,000 per annum Permanent - Full Time Closing date for expressions of interest - 4th June at 5pm Tonic is a community business focused on creating vibrant and inclusive urban LGBT+ affirmative retirement communities where people can share common experiences, find mutual support and enjoy their later life. Tonic will provide homes with safe social spaces where older LGBT+ people can enjoy later life with the knowledge that support and culturally-appropriate care services are available if needed. There are currently no LGBT+ retirement communities in the UK. We intend to change this, to increase the choice available for older LGBT+ people, to remain active and connected to our community. We have the benefit of learning from our fellow projects across the globe, particularly the established projects in the USA, and are at an exciting time in our journey. Our first new apartments in London are due to be available in Summer 2020 and therefore we are now expanding our team. As Communications & Marketing Manager you will play a pivotal role leading our communication, marketing and advocacy work. You will be organising and attending events to engage our audiences, developing and delivering key communication outputs including campaigns, reports, policy briefings, webpages, newsletter, social media content, mailouts, press releases, contribution to TV/radio shows, speaking engagements and communications with our communities and customers. You will work in a small team reporting to the CEO. Your day to day role, among other things, will involve: ?Developing and implementing our communications and marketing strategy to amplify our community voice, engage our audiences and promote Tonic. ?Identifying our external audiences and tailoring our communications accordingly. ?Utilising a variety of platforms to communicate regularly with our specific communities and wider audiences. ?Acting as the primary contact for all media/press. ?Working with branding, marketing, PR consultants and corporate sponsors. ?Supporting the CEO in creating key documents, funding bids and reports. ?Utilising multiple communication channels to champion support for our work and to promote the social inclusion of older LGBT+ people. ?Visiting and engaging with customers to build understanding of their experience within our retirement communities and the LGBT+ community. ?Leading on providing administrative support, including organising and minute taking of board meetings, acting as Data Protecion Officer, and maintaining company records. ?Sharing in office management duties across the team, including handling general enquiries, providing an excellent standard of customer service ?Supporting the CEO by attending or presenting at conferences/events ?Offering flexibility and attend ad hoc evening meetings as required We are ideally looking for individuals who can demonstrate much of the following: ?Demonstrable experience within a communications or marketing role with evidence of successful outcomes. ?Experience of working within an organisation with a strong social purpose. ?Track record of creating internal and external communications plans across various platforms and dealing with press enquiries. ?Strong ability to communicate in writing. ?Able to speak publicly confidently. ?Ability to manage a website and proficient in social media. IT literate. ?Experience of working within the LGBT sector and/or housing or care sectors (desirable) In addition, you must be self-motivated and an empathetic, strong listener with exceptional communication skills. Ideally you will have an awareness of the wider LGBT+ community and the requirements that residents will have, including things like health issues and access to appropriate services. Rather than just being "LGBT+ friendly" our services will be actively affirming of the lives, histories, needs and aspirations of LGBT+ people. This does not imply exclusion of those who do not identify as LGBT+, but actively values those who respect and celebrate LGBT+ people.
