This exciting new position combines helping shape, develop and grow the Barber Institute’s recently inaugurated membership organisation, as well as scoping out a proposed Friends of the University of Birmingham membership scheme.
At the Barber Institute, you will be working closely with the Director and the Communications and Marketing Manager to develop and deliver the new membership programme, the Barber Association. Building on the success and strengths of the Barber’s existing Patrons’ scheme for individuals able to support the Barber at a higher annual level of philanthropy, you’ll be instrumental in shaping a dynamic and rewarding programme to engage members at all levels, and secure sustainable financial support for the Barber.
Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, from helping plan the Association’s promotion and recruitment, to organising members’ stewardship events. You’ll be the principle point of contact for the growing number of members and prospects, and be responsible for our multi-channel led communications plan, from postal, to digital, and social media.
With an eye to the Association’s future, you’ll gauge the success of the organisation’s first 12 months, benchmarking against comparator organisations, evaluating operations and member communications and events, and listen to member feedback to identify potential improvements. You will then work on the plan for the long-term future, capitalising on the Association’s burgeoning success.
With DARO, you’ll be scoping out the new Friends of the University of Birmingham programme. You will have an enthusiasm for people and the skills and credibility to interact with all levels of the organisation, and other potential supporters. We are looking for experience of building relationships and working to targets. Other team members have joined us from diverse backgrounds including charities, smaller institutions, sales, recruitment, and the arts sector.
You will work as part of a wider team - together with the Communications and Marketing Manager for the Barber Institute, the Development and Alumni Donor Relations team, and External Relations.
