Barnardo's is seeking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Registered Manager to support the development and progression of the Summerfield residential children's home in Abingdon.

Summerfield provides a nurturing, caring, and safe home for six children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years. We support them to grow and learn, and to develop their skills, confidence, and independence. The children and young people who live with us at Summerfield have different learning, physical and emotional needs. Some children have high level complex needs, including health and social needs and behaviours that can challenge. Summerfield's vision is to build happy and healthy childhoods and support every child to thrive.

The staff team within Summerfield must be fully accepting of the children in our care; and be prepared to offer them a professional relationship based on love and acceptance and informed by our understanding of their individual needs, wishes, experiences and any past trauma. We are passionate about the children we care for, showing understanding, empathy, and consistency in our approach.

Within this role, the Registered Manager will provide robust leadership and management to the staff team, and will also:

* Ensure the care needs of the children and young people are understood and fully met;
* Maintain the highest level of safe practice within the home;
* Drive our vision of the service and have the passion and experience to see it succeed;
* Work with colleagues and partners to achieve the best outcomes for all children accessing Barnardo's services across Oxfordshire;
* Have proven leadership, management and safeguarding experience within a children's residential setting;
* Understand Ofsted regulations in relation to residential settings;
* Hold a relevant Level 5 qualification, or be willing to work toward it with Barnardo's support.

We are inviting applications from experienced managers or team managers looking to take the next step in their career. For more information or an informal conversation about the role, please contact Cara Atkinson ( [email protected] ) or Helen Boxall ( [email protected] ).

When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.
